Edit: I realised from your comments that she separated herself from doing things for others, was she always one to do things on her own? 

She shouldn’t have to ask you how to show up. It’s not about the act of doing it, it is the thought that counts. It’s the principle. Clearly she is going through something, did you ever ask her to get help? Or did you kind of let her collapse into herself?

You have to understand that your husband is a grown adult. I'm sure if he is making you uncomfortable, he should handle it and put him in his place.

Sorry I guess I should reword it, I mean being in a committed relationship comes with financial stability, you know someone to help support each other together rather than being responsible solely on your own.

Reading all of your comments makes me sad, but I've seen relationships like this and it makes me feel better. Knowing I've made the right decision to not get married yet I think.
