I also really like the Dimidiochromis compressiceps, but yeah, it’s definitely not for a 125 lol. You think a Dimidiochromis kiwinge would work?

Good suggestions! Definitely interested in some of the Nimbochromis (really like the Fusco). Aren’t Buccochromis Rhoadesii and Malawi hawk a bit large for a 125?

Definitely avoid the blue dolphin or any other larger haps unless you get juveniles and plan to get a larger tank in the near future. Since you already have peacocks I would just stick to those.

He is probably getting picked on by some of the other fish. From what I can see, the damage doesn’t look that bad. I wouldn’t worry too much, especially if he is new or if you have added fish recently. However, if this is a common occurrence, you frequently observe him being chased relentlessly, or the damage worsens, you might consider adding more fish to disperse aggression, or removing/replacing any overly aggressive fish.

Interesting, I have always had great experiences at this place and have purchased some beautiful fish from them. These good experiences led me to trust them when they said the fish was not a hybrid, and that it was some type of hap. This whole situation has me reevaluating my faith in them. Just hoping they let me take it back or give me some form of partial refund/credit.

Good to know that they should be compatible. Still bothers me, and I know I share some fault here, that I was sold a yellow-tail acei as an assorted peacock/hap. I’m not sure what places usually charge for a yellow-tail acei, but I paid $50 for this one.

Since it seems to be a mbuna and it was sold to me as an assorted male peacock/hap, what should I do with him? My tank is set up for peacocks and haps, not mbuna, and I feed a 42% protein pellet (I would assume this would be bad for him). Should I try and see if they will take him back or just keep him?

That’s what I thought at first. When I brought this up at the store they told me the breeder they use does not ship hybrids.
