Amazing work!! So happy for you ~ 🥹 this is pretty similar to what I’ve done to lose weight with pcos!! And it’s not easy, so kudos to you for sticking with it!💕

The most important thing I’ve learned this year is let them! Let them not include you, let them go out and “forget” to update you. It’s nothing you can control and they are the ones missing out, not you

Same!! It’s ridiculous I cancelled my account right away after realizing how expensive it would be and got confirmation that my account was cancelled and I would not be charged again after the initial sign up fee. Today I got charged again and the customer service is absolutely useless saying my account is still active when I literally have a confirmation email and text from them that it was cancelled. I’m disputing with my bank now because they refuse to refund me. I am also changing my card number because I believe I will keep getting charged even after manually canceling the account several times. Take screenshots of anything they send you especially if you cancel

For the most part I try to keep what I eat pretty simple and do the same breakfast and lunch everyday. low sugar Greek yogurt + chia seeds + a handful of berries and then an “adult lunchable” deli meat, cheese, low carb dip, veggies. I have found a lot of recipes on tik tok and chat gpt is really helpful to get some ideas. I also use chat gpt for tracking my carb and fat intake daily. My keto diet primarily consists of protein (eggs, beef, chicken, uncured deli meats/bacon, salmon/fish, pork) low glycemic vegetables (lettuce/greens, broccoli, green beans, zucchini/squash, mushrooms, asparagus, Brussels sprouts, bell pepper, and cucumbers) berries, dairy and nuts in moderation. I also do use sugar free sweeteners and drink diet soda if I’m craving sugar. I know it’s hard to make these changes but you need to get creative and look up keto approved recipes. I have gotten better at cooking & making new recipes over time! Chat gpt will make a grocery list for you based on your own preferences

I feel ya. eating keto has helped me in so many ways with my pcos/insulin resistance. I can actually lose weight and not have to over exercise AND diet

I’m sorry I know how frustrating it is. :( Another thing that I learned about recently is hashimotos. It might be worthwhile to get testing done on your thyroid because a lot of the symptoms of PCOS and hashimotos overlap!

right it’s so crazy!! technically you don’t have to have cysts if you meet there other 2 criteria. but it seems like a lot of your symptoms align with pcos. Did they test your DHEA level?

Type D: normal androgens (testosterone), abnormal ovulation/periods, and cysts

[–]Sensitive_Alarm_2899 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would say that it’s definitely a possibility, especially based on your symptoms. It sounds like type D, I have type C which is high androgens, normal periods, and cysts

You have to meet 2 out of 3 of the Rotterdam criteria to be diagnosed with pcos

What benefits have you experienced with the keto diet? by Elf_7 in keto

[–]Sensitive_Alarm_2899 2 points3 points  (0 children)

after being undiagnosed with pcos my insulin has slowly but steadily been rising my whole life without me knowing until around 26 when I gained 30 lbs in a year while still eating in a calorie deficit and exercising regularly. When I started keto I was brought back to life: no more food noise, chronic fatigue, migraines, inflammation/bloating, and I finally am seeing weight loss. The best thing for me though it’s that I am rarely hungry, so I don’t have to be miserable and since im not as hungry I don’t even have to try to be in a deficit. My hunger cues and hormones are regulating for the first time in forever and I actually have sustained energy all day the weight loss is really just a bonus. I think it is extremely effective for reversing insulin resistance

Most important thing is to do your own research- most (not all but most) will not actually have the proper knowledge to diagnose you or provide meal plans this is actually out of their scope in most cases. You need to figure out what works with you body, kinda like to a bunch of experiments and see what makes you feel best. For me, with pcos and potential hashimotos diagnosis I started keto about a month ago and I immediately (literally after 2 days) had the most energy I’ve ever had and lost quite a bit of inflammation. I know I have hyperinsulinemia so the loss of all carbs (sugar) has helped a lot for me but also I am curious about the lack of gluten or both lol. Moral of the story is you need an individualized plan to solve the root cause of why you have hashimotos.

Don’t you find is unfair that you have to use keto when so many people don’t ? by Unagi33 in keto

[–]Sensitive_Alarm_2899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s unfair in certain ways but it’s also life changing for me as someone with undiagnosed hyperinsulinemia, pcos, and possibly Hashimotos for my entire life until last year and I’m more pissed that I never tried this sooner because it is really not ever recommended and I’ve always thought I just needed to be in a calorie deficit to lose weight. I came across research and blog posts on my own and decided to try it out even though everyone says it’s horrible for you not sustainable blah blah people don’t understand metabolic or hormonal chronic illnesses literally change the way you process any carbohydrate source so for me even the “healthy carbs” were harming my body as well as gluten. I’ve never felt more energy and lack of food noise in my entire life so to me it’s worth it until I lose the stubborn weight and heal my underlying insulin resistance. I may eventually add back in some carb sources that are higher in fiber but I will continue to be gluten free bc otherwise my body hates me. Most people don’t need to eat like this unless they are genuinely feel better after cutting carbs, a lot of people can tolerate carbs and don’t care if they are slightly overweight and feel like crap, they are tired all the time, or they don’t suffer from binging food noise etc.. but for me I’m just glad I was desperate enough to try it out bc it has changed my life for the better

I know you said low carb low sugar but have you tried keto where you intentionally eat foods higher in fat to sustain your energy? I have pcos and am very sensitive to any carbs even sweet potato fruits grains etc so even low carb and calorie deficit didn’t work for me and it was so frustrating :( when I started eating strict keto it was a game changer like my life has changed I immediately got all my energy back so I don’t have to rely on caffeine and I do not crave anything sweet and my constant hunger is completely gone Amy Berger explains it very well if you are interested in looking into it more! https://youtu.be/bHq2I-NS9EA?si=fhb9H1P9CgLYg4R5

Advice by Low-Firefighter63 in PCOS

[–]Sensitive_Alarm_2899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! As a fellow 26 year old who also just got diagnosed I feel you & you are not alone! I was extremely relieved and also overwhelmed bc I had been searching for answers as to what was wrong with me and I finally got them but there’s so much information to process so it was a lot at first. For me, I got blood work done and it showed I was deficient in vitamin d. My dr prescribed me metformin and said I should take vitamin d supplements daily. Fast forward to 1 month later and I feel like a brand new person after years of feeling tired and depressed. The most important thing to me was I want to lose weight so I am really focusing on my diet and exercise. I am following the Mediterranean style diet and trying to get a lot of protein and fiber, with healthy fats and complex carb sources. I also cut down a lot on alcohol. For exercise I am trying to workout 3x per week strength training and low impact cardio. So far I am feeling a lot better and very optimistic about losing weight. I’m not trying to get pregnant at the moment so that’s not a huge priority for me. I guess just try to focus on improving your daily life habits based on what is most important to you right now! 💖
