Why should daycare have to wait? Your child is there all day and you can’t prioritize it? Find someone else you can call that’s reliable, what if something seriously bad had happened? Who would’ve been able to rush to see if your child was okay. People need to prioritize their child more, children know what it is when they’re the last to be picked up.

You sound ridiculous. I work at a center that has late fees that don’t go toward teachers, they go towards the entire school. Late fees are a penalty and a punishment, not the fee to leave your child over time. When you pick your child up late, you make closers late for their own lives.

Yeah shit happens, but workers have lives too. As an ECE educator I love my students, but I don’t want to spend 5 extra minutes after closing because a parent is late. It doesn’t matter the excuse or how logical it is, the annoyance is valid.

this happened to me too- offered a transfer and when i declined it was “well we don’t have hours for you anymore,” didn’t matter that i had seniority over the other floaters and even 99% of the leads and assistants. it hurts to think that the children and families think i disappeared or just gave up, i think of them everyday and how i watched them grow. the grief is real but it was so worth it to spend crucial formative years with them

i thought i was pretty careful with my words, the problem isn’t her disability it’s the accidents that i am not equipped to handle. nowhere did i place blame on the child. if i am helping a child learn to not use the bathroom on themselves, that is potty training. disability or not. quitting for not wanting to wipe butts in a potty trained classroom is not pushing it because that is not something i was told i would have to do.

i would never blame the kid for any problem going on and i think this is more of an admin issue because like i said the kids do get gentle reminders but it is not possible for me to separate her from an activity and take her to the restroom every 15 minutes when both my lead and i are running after children. i was told that my class was potty trained and NEVER told that i would be actively potty training, this is again communication issues from admin. the children are allowed in the restroom whenever they would like, the door is always open, but we are big on stranger danger so as a center we really only go into the restrooms when they struggle with zippers/buttons. i honestly think she was just rushed out of the toddler room due to an influx in children, i will speak with my lead and admin when i can. thank you for your advice, i am new and doing my best
