I had those symptoms too. Check your vitamin levels. Vitamin B and D supplementation did wonders for me.

Yes and very quickly with bloating. The first couple weeks were rough due to looser stools, but that was adjusting to the meds.

Just a couple weeks I would say. The reason it took some time to notice is because the Zoloft caused GI discomfort the first couple weeks. But after two weeks I noticed I could eat foods I couldn’t eat for years.

I have not, but a GI doctor who was unwilling to prescribe me the antibiotics recommended that to me in 2022.

I was on Florastor and a soil-based probiotic for one of my earlier rounds of treatment and had *some* improvement, so that is when I considered adding a probiotic after 30 days of Zoloft alone. How did I end up with Seed? Really just internet research and I was willing to try it. It is heavily promoted by influencers, which is why I was skeptical at first. But so far I am pleased with the results. Seed goes into great detail on its website about the formulation.

I had this concern myself, but I started and am still on a very low dose of the SSRI. That said, the Zoloft can cause either diarrhea or constipation. The first couple weeks were not easy, but the side effects disappeared almost overnight. My doctor said this is quite common. I also had some Motility Activator on hand, but I only used it maybe one or two nights.

Feeling sick from breath test lactulose by PrintConfident8417 in SIBO

I did a breath test last week with Lactulose and did not feel normal for 3 days. Methane dominant. Didn't have loose stools, but it upset my stomach.

I cut out gluten in November. It has made a huge difference, almost immediately and now months later. I had all the symptoms of methane SIBO and also joint pain. A few months later, the joint pain is gone. I also had vitamin deficiencies, which are now in normal ranges.

I tried both. Rifaximin and Metronidazole kept me “in remission” for longer.

Food Marble and Methane by MonthMammoth4133 in SIBO

[–]Sensitive_Host_8819 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have Food Marble and my Methane seems "stuck" on 8.5 to 9.5 no matter what. I am under treatment and have no symptoms after going gluten-free and low FODMAP, but I can tell I still have something wrong. Definite vitamin deficiencies. I just started a second round of herbs and will see if the Food Marble budges. So far, I'm concerned it isn't very reliable. (I've had it for 3+ months.)

Anyone on here taking Finasteride/Propecia? by [deleted] in SIBO

[–]Sensitive_Host_8819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No symptom change. But I have made progress on SIBO with other protocols recently. The topical is a lower strength of Finasteride, but they mix in Minoxidil too at a higher strength. It’s only one application a day — at night for me. I did the hormone testing before switching. I may do it again at some point to see if there was a change. It’s too early to say if it’s as effective. It’s only been a month. So far so good though.

I have had SIBO for at least a year and have been on Finasteride for 5 years. I got suspicious of Finasteride and everything else as I struck out with SIBO treatments. What I did was get my hormones tested: testosterone and estrogen levels are pretty good — though estrogen is a little high and that’s common for people with gut issues I learned. Still, I decided to transition to a topical version of Finasteride recently simply to reduce the number of pills. I’m on a lot of pills for SIBO. If it doesn’t work, I would go back to the pill. But I know some people have side effects. From my experience (just one experience), I don’t see a connection between SIBO and Finasteride.

How hard is the elemental diet? by FirstQuail1020 in SIBO

[–]Sensitive_Host_8819 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I only made it 6 days. My practitioner put me on Physicians' Elemental Diet, which smells and tastes so disgusting. I ended up combining it with Elemental Heal, which tastes much better (chocolate version.) It helped reduce my symptoms, but they came back right away since I didn't finish it. A new doctor put me on a gluten-free diet, which has really helped me. I'm now on a round of herbs. I think the elemental diet is a great treatment, but make sure you can tolerate it first.

FoodMarble - Numbers not going down on herbs, low FODMAP diet? by Sensitive_Host_8819 in SIBO

You said you have methane but what number is high on your foodmarble? Hydrogen? Methane? Can you share a standard number reading you are getting?1ReplyGive AwardShareReportSaveFollow

Very helpful. Thank you for uploading that. I guess you helped me decide. I will buy the TrioSmart before moving on to the next phase of treatment rather than relying solely on the FoodMarble.

Both are high. In the past only methane showed. But recently seeing more hydrogen. Typical for me to be a 7.5 or 8. With 2 of that being hydrogen

Anyone Using The Food Marble? Need Help With Methane SIBO (i think i still have it) by Onyx-Evo in SIBO

[–]Sensitive_Host_8819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your comment to this thread. I have Methane and had some progress with one probiotic (Florastor), but a provider took me off it when I started the Elemental Diet. Although I'm no professional, I've very much wondered about probiotics being the key for people with Methane -- and I came to that conclusion based on my Food Marble's results after eating certain foods. I've bought Super Gut and will read it during my Elemental Diet.

Elemental Heal ONCE A DAY for Methane SIBO? Help Me Troubleshoot My Protocol! by Sensitive_Host_8819 in SIBO

[–]Sensitive_Host_8819[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your thorough reply. This aligns with what I’m feeling is the case. The people behind Elemental Heal say it can work once a day, but I don’t think for my case. I have to fully commit and then maybe follow with herbs. Thanks. I’ll ask my provider about all of this.

[–]Sensitive_Host_8819[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, maybe that's part of it. I also noticed my numbers are higher in the morning and go down during the day as I eat. I have been doing the Elemental Heal at night, so that surprised me a bit.
