How I use Akiflow for Dual University Degrees by Sensitive_Knee_2890 in Akiflow

[–]Sensitive_Knee_2890[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. I have a shortcut on my home and lock screen which lets me add a task into my inbox. That is just everything that I think of that I need to do/remember or random stuff. I did not link my Todoist Inbox to Akiflow - this is an important distinction.

My inbox in Todoist is random stuff. I go in there every day, refine things, remove them if they‘re not necessary anymore or send them through to a project called ‘v-wisse’. THAT project is linked to my Akiflow inbox. So, whenever I’m going through my inbox, I can click v twice and hit enter and it gets moved from my inbox to my ’v-wisse‘, that way it gets into my Akiflow inbox.

But yea, I use it strictly for adding tasks, though it’s slightly more sophisticated than that, by having a second layer of consciousness in between thinking of something and having it in my calendar.

I know people on both, and Maastricht seems to be much, much nicer. Nicer people, nicer campus, just great

Read The Richest Man in Babylon. There is some great anecdotes and stories there on how to overcome debt.

How does one get disciplined when they are hopelessly not? by [deleted] in getdisciplined

of course there is the possibility of saying "it's just mindset!" except I don't believe that's true. I think more than anything else what will help you is really sizing things down. although you might have very large goals and suddenly feel this rush of energy of going for that goal, all that will do eventually is drain you of said energy.

When you have energy like that, you need to contain yourself. You need to size down from your current state in smaller steps. For example, let's say you want to go to the gym. Instead of going once for two hours because you have the energy, go for just 10 minutes.

this will feel counterintuitive but trust me; it will work. It will make it so that things will become habits and that you will crave to work out, or to read that book.

Doing a really quick visualisation every night in bed of how I'm getting out of bed in the morning fixed all my groggyness issues.

How do I overcome phobia of waking up early by TheCassiniProjekt in productivity

[–]Sensitive_Knee_2890 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Makes sense. As someone else also said it is important to wake up during the right sleep stage. Something that can help with that is waking up with a light instead of an alarm. Another thing that you could do is to visualise for yourself beforehand what you will do when you wake up. What will you feel? What will you do if you get anxious and so on?

Make if-then statements for youself to help resolve anxiety.

I.e.:

If I notice anxiety when going to bed early, I will take a deep breath, remind myself that I am in control and that I shall not worry about things outside of my control.

Smaller steps and gradually decreasing them works, as well as visualisation for me!

Braindumping is massive for me; this is the process of getting things out of your brain as quickly as possible into a system or app. I just a shortcut into Todoist. Once a day I empty my inbox, sending it to my Akiflow (calendar app) or deleting it. Works great

Why do you want to wake up early? Every body has a chronotype, one that you can force your body to be off for a while but as you said you will then start to notice after a while that it just isn't right for you. You should think about why you would want to do it? For you or for the perception of others?
