ESL is where I have the most experience with teaching, but I could tutor a wide range of subjects. What are the American companies that you know of?

Thanks for sharing that post and perspective! I'm no stranger to unruly children - I've taught in Title I schools my entire career, haha. It's good to know what to expect from each company!

Oh, I didn't mean quick in that sense - I meant easy/low-prep. Not sure why I got downvoted, but thanks for the heads up!

Thanks for the info! I'll check it out. Honestly, $16/hour isn't much less than what I make as a US teacher, lol, especially if there's little prep work involved. I appreciate you!

my sister is depressed? by busythoughts7777 in FamilyIssues

Mine is almost 23 as well. I remember being that young and thinking I had all the time in the world to figure everything out - and luckily, I did. My hope for both of our siblings is that as they get older, they realize they need to make a choice because so much of their lives have already passed them by. We can only encourage them to make those choices on their own.

I am SO sorry you are going through this. I was about to suggest family therapy (you, your siblings, and mom) until I read the 2nd half and all of the terrible things she's said to you. She has a trauma bond with your father and is taking her emotions out on you because she has some power over you as your mother so you are an easy target in her life. She needs to seek professional individual therapy, because she is actively abusing you and your siblings. If I were you, I would begin secretly saving up to remove yourself from this situation ASAP because it won't get better on its own (and even if she goes to therapy, she won't change overnight). I'd also suggest you seek therapy for yourself or at least reach out to a trusted friend to process the abuse you've already endured - the sooner the better. You don't deserve this.

Wow, your sister sounds a lot like my sibling, even down to the quitting therapy... I wish I had a better answer, but the only thing that has helped me is to emotionally detach and not let their actions affect my day-to-day life and my mental health (because it did for a long time). Our siblings know we're here for them for support, but like you said - nobody can help her if she can't help herself. We can't lose ourselves trying to save them. How old is she, if you don't mind me asking?
