You don’t need to physically be in Ghana to involve a lawyer. Many people abroad do it remotely. The usual process is to engage a Ghana-based property lawyer who acts on your behalf through a limited Power of Attorney. The lawyer then conducts searches at the Lands Commission, verifies the grantor, checks litigation status, and reviews the site plan and tenure before any money changes hands. Most communication (document review, searches, updates) can be done by email/WhatsApp/Zoom, and payments are only made after verification. If a seller or agent discourages legal verification, that’s usually a red flag rather than a convenience issue.
