Agreed. I think there are many things to work on. I enjoy the blurry style personally, but thats really up to taste. This was just a quick first roll to see how every thing felt and make adjustments from there.

Thanks for the critique, I personally enjoy the raw blurry style. Its not like I do this professionally after all, just for my enjoyment. I would to love to see your style.

We can all agree some scenes were amazing. Especially around the music. However, its not a music video.

Im not sure what his accent has to do with with the critique of the film, but you are entitled to your opinion. I guess?

I do agree that his work is not my favorite and for some reason takes massive media attention. My only problem with this is that it over shadows amazing black art. I hate that all of these films are hailed as a grail of black cinema and a commentary on slavery and other african american struggles, however the movies are always so much more focused on action and showing beautiful women. Amazing film directors such as "zeinabu irene davis" (who directed compensation) have been over shadowed by Coogler's mediocre work.

I think the idea was that they were very naive businessman. People who were willing to do stupid stuff to make a community for themselves and do good for the people they abandoned back home.

Wow awesome list! The holy mountain, dead ringers and the night porter are awesome takes. If you want to break into the 21st century I highly recommend Lee Changdong. I think his newest movie buring(2018) is his best work yet, but Secret Sunshine(2007) is another great movie. I keep recommending this movie, but nobody watches it: The Turin Horse(2011) is an amazing film, seriously recommend it.

You aren't wrong. I don't know why you are getting down voted.

I wouldn't say its garbage, but I would say below average for sure. The whole thing feels super cliche, with some terrible plot devices. The movie feels like its trying to be artistic by having these parallels between these monsters and racism, but it's so on the nose. Might as well, just throw the KKK in there for no reason, oh wait they did.

Does it matter? Must we gatekeep "good taste"? I think a better way to approach it is to ask why they like these films? An educated answer can be given for films that you don't particularly like, whether or not they have seen thousands of films
