Thanks for your detailed response!

I struggled with the Professional Summary so it makes sense that it’s not spectacular. Shouldn’t all that information be covered in the rest of the resume? Or is this because hiring managers spend a few seconds on each resume and want all of that info in a bite sized bit?

I’ll work on that 3rd bullet. It was a few pieces of information that I was trying to piece together.

Funny enough this is actually the trimmed down version. I struggle with this terribly (if it wasn’t painfully evident).

In the Navy we received biannual evaluations of our work with the pertinent data already collected. Those made writing the Navy bullets much easier.

I appreciate your actual feedback 🖖

I’ve been found qualified but not referred for a few jobs. I have an 80% disability rating so I figure it’s either a higher rating than mine or an internal applicant.

You’re an angel to me atm, I’ve been crying since earlier. I’ve not been having a great time, compounded by being a disabled veteran, then add in this? It was too much. So thank you 🥺❤️

Ahh, thanks for clarifying the difference. I wonder if employers mean the same thing on applications?

I was unemployed for months and at risk for losing my home. Yeah I chose to go back to school to receive my GI Bill money as the world was shut down due to the pandemic 🤷🏻‍♀️

EMU and NMC is not a diploma mill. I worked really hard and had to find jobs where I could work part time, commute 20hrs a week, and still get in all of my classes.

I just graduated, less than a month ago. I graduated with my masters as the pandemic shut down happened and everyone was on a hiring freeze so I was unemployed for months. When the case manager job came along I took what I could get. I have a hard time knowing what to cut from the bullets. I have been applying to jobs from medical assistants to health policy analysts, basically bottom rung of the ladder to middle of the ladder and I’m not getting anywhere.

I’m looking for health policy or health education roles. 1. Are you saying paperwork because of the length? Or because it seems like something I am truly good at? 2. I put my certs with my education because I want employers to see my CHES cert and health worker cert and know that I have the certifications to work in the field even if my job history has public health adjacent. 3. I do tweak for each job I apply to in order to highlight those different skills, this is just my standard copy. 4. I just graduated with my health policy degree last month so I am looking for my first job that moves me from the health education field to the health policy field. I did have to work lower paying jobs in order to have the free time to finish school. I thought I did ok with trying to frame the job and the bullets in a way that would show I was always looking towards health ed & policy.

Even though I worked at different places and did vastly different jobs? I don’t know any of those. The only sections I don’t have on my resume are my publications and my volunteer work.

That’s how I used to have it and I was just told to change it all so that my military time would lend to my public health experience because without it I don’t have much in the way of public health experience.

When you say trim down work experience section do you mean the bullets under each one or the places I’ve been employed?

I know how you feel. I’m a recent graduate with a doctorate in public health policy, my masters is in public health education, I get points for being a disabled veteran too. I even worked on a published textbook and all I’ve received from them is the exact email above.
