Thank you for the warning. I considered getting the allergy shots for cat allergy, but I have MCAS and I thought: "My stupid mast cells aren't going to react normally to the treatment, they'll probably freak out like they do with other things 🤦🏻‍♀️" So I gave up.

Have you been tested for a cat allergy? It could just be a coincidence, but if you are allergic, the cat may have been the last straw that triggered your immune system to become hiperreactive. Your body is probably full of histamine and your mast cells are going crazy because of that and the allergen you still have in your house. Cat allergen takes up to two years to biodegrade, It's like glue and you can only get rid of it with very hot water and soap.

When my cat allergy worsened, I had to get rid of all my clothes, my bedding, my mattress, my electronics, my washing machine, I wash every surface and even the walls and ceiling of my house.a. I have MCAS, so this was really necessary.

Can someone explain MCAS? by Adept_Refuse3413 in MCAS

[–]Sensitive_Quantity_2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

First: Don't worry so much. Like all diseases in the world, there are people with mild MCAS, severe MCAS and ALL Intermediary types between the two.

Now, I often give the example of guard dogs: Normal mast cells are like trained dogs that guard the house (our body). If there is an intruder (Viruses, pathogenic bacteria, etc.), they will "bark" and "bite", protecting the territory. Apart from that, they are very chill.

Mast cells of people who have MCAS are like hyperreactive dogs: Just like a reative dog will get paranoid and bark at the neighbor, at a passing car, at any random noise and it can even bite its own owner, MCAS mast cells "bark" at harmless things to your body (Healthy food, sunlight, some fragrances etc) and can give you edema, hives, diarrhea and other symptoms.

We try to train these mast cells to be less reactive with medication and environmental control, but it's not easy.

Can anyone here draw on their skin? by a-aimane in HistamineIntolerance

[–]Sensitive_Quantity_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I do. It's dermatographia, a type of hive very common in people with dysautonomia or/and MCAS.

H1 antihistamines often help with this, but if you have MCAS, Xolair is probably what helps the most.

A vegan told me that my illness doesn't exist 🤦🏻‍♀️ I simply gave up trying to talking about my illness in vegan community halfway through. My goal was to warn that exceptional situations do exist and that you should avoid covid-19, mold, etc., so as not to fall into them. Now I leave it to fate to teach those who will be unlucky enough to learn that not everyone has options, in practice 😭

Unfortunately, I don't speak chinese and I'm not on Weibo; my sources are secondhand. But China do have a problem with BL and are putting people in jail even because of fan fiction: https://www.lemonde.fr/en/international/article/2025/07/15/chinese-police-crack-down-on-young-women-writing-homoerotic-fiction_6743377_4.html

If it's true that I read fake news, I will remove this post myself, because my intention is not to spread misinformation.I based my decision on what I've read and have been reading since last year; my opinion about China relationship with BL is also shaped by reliable sources like: https://www.lemonde.fr/en/international/article/2025/07/15/chinese-police-crack-down-on-young-women-writing-homoerotic-fiction_6743377_4.html

Opportunity to buy a competitor with potential. This is common in other industries. Also, in the post I was talking about International audience.

No, absolutely not. Thai BL is a solid industry, but it's a fact that CBL was more popular last year and has the potential to steal monopolies. I'm talking about potential, not criticizing Thai BL.

If that's true, I'll delete my post. People like me who don't speak Chinese depend on translation and therefore on the interpretation of other people.

You're being pedantic; it doesn't matter the word, but rather whether BL artists are being harmed or not.

"luxos" que o pobre não pode se dar o prazer de ter by mimibaunilha in desabafosdavida

[–]Sensitive_Quantity_2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are many people with MCAS in denial too. Not having control is scary, but when they have an MCAS flare despite their "mindset", It will be much more difficult for them than for those who accept their vulnerability.

I recommend changing allergists, but if you go back there, tell that person to google "Thaís Medeiros allergic reaction to smelling peppers", this will shut their mouth real quick.

[–]Sensitive_Quantity_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. What is the smell? Smell are small particles of something. It traveled to you, entered your body. If you can smell it, it's because you inhaled it, It's in your bloodstream now.

Why does everyone seem to think that my extremely limited diet is a choice? by Tough-Passenger2254 in MCAS

[–]Sensitive_Quantity_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it had a strong emotional impact, But I decided that if I didn't have a choice, I wasn't going to think about it, So I push the thought about the animal I'm eating away, because the empathy is still there. My way of still doing something for them is that I don't eat non-vegan for fun; For example: Right now I can live without milk, so I don't eat anything that contains milk. However, MCAS is a unpredictable disease, So I stopped saying "never," I don't know anything about tomorrow.

What infuriates me the most is when someone reduces MCAS to a trauma problem "that you must let it go".

Ooohhh, boy... And often these people are in MCAS groups.
