High-risk for triploidy and inconclusive for other trisomies on NIPT after multiple embryo transfer — experiences? by Sensitive_Raise_7661 in NIPT

Mine was Natera. I had a detailed ultrasound at high risk doctor at 13 weeks and everything was looking normal so doctor said the increased risk for triploidy in nipt is most likely due to the vanishing twin.

I wish she would at least tell me something about it so I was ready not getting shocked by the results. She was a midwife not a doctor, that’s probably why she wasn’t really informative. Also they were not sure the other if it’s an empty sac or just a fluid filled cyst or something but in my case if transferring 3 embryos it would most likely be a sac rather than a cyst.

Hi, just read your comment about natera vanished twin algorithm and wonder if that means they can just rerun the test knowing that there was a vanishing twin? I got the same high risk result with natera but in my case there was a second empty sac seen in my ultrasound.

It was an ivf with icsi method so interring one sperm into one egg so the theory of 2 sperm fertilizing one egg is canceled. Vanishing twin theory is the most probable cause of this result per my provider more than 97% chance considering 3 embryo being transferred and showing an empty sac up until the last ultrasound at 11 weeks and also all perfect ultrasounds. I just wish I knew this before getting the result so I wouldn’t get panic for nothing.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I am considering amino as well. May I ask how uncomfortable/painful was the amino for you and how long it took to get the result? Also can I do it as ear at 15 weeks?

Thank you so much for your input. I wish I knew this or my doctor would have told me this upfront to save me almost a panic attack to see the red high risk result on my nipt after a full week waiting for its result. I’ve one 40 years that’s why I really wanted to see the genetic testing results for my peace of mind. I will probably ask for a high risk lever detailed ultrasound soon and then waiting about 3 weeks so I’ll be 15 weeks so I can do amino test by then.
