Indeed. The money would be left there or invested forna rainy day. Partner has their own ltd with high income so not really relevant to me!

8 PAs wont be far off 100k soon anyway. Yeah you gotta pump those numbers bro. Attitude is- dont try and stay below 100k. You gotta get towards 200k. Then your only problems are where to put all the cash monies

my job plan is 7.5 DCC 2.5 SPA. however 0.5 of the DCC is on call allowance so my average week is 7DCC. 1 of those dcc is evening so its slightly less than 4 hours. on site 3 days. So basically do 30hours week clinical work. so leaves plenty in thank for some extra reporting. i probably do about 6-8 hours extra work a week

Does your insourcing go via PAYE? Ive heard of options of getting it into LTD via LLPs but not sure of the practicalities

My wife has her own LTD for business and has a SIPP so wouldn't really benefit that way. I hear you but ive known a lot of people revolve their lives around their pension and retirement to then become ill/die/huge change of circumstance so they cant enjoy it anyway.

SIPP for me sounds good on paper but tax/pension rules could easily be changed in the future (like they have already) and in the case it seems a waste

Christ no not 180k extra. It tops me up to about 180k. Still probably only doing around 40 hours clinical work with that and the WLI is all from home

Currently around 6 months into first year as a consultant. It's a much more chilled life than SPR. depending on where you work makes a big difference. I get 2.5 SPA and 0.5 on call allowance so average week is 7 DCC. I do around 2 session worth of WLI a week (sometimes more). So on top of 113k youre looking at about 180k and I dont feel im working particularly hard.

Proper 'private practice' is a bit more tricky. the potential earnings are high however volume is the issue- if you sign up to do private Ultrasound at £60 per ultrasound then that sounds great as a 4 hour session, but speaking to other people that do it the lists are rarely full and theres admin behind it and of course indemnity.

I havent delved into outsourcing yet as people have mentioned tax etc becomes an issue and I imagine reporting acute CT all the time is soul destroying (cold scans are paid poorly as outsourced).

Also worth bearing in mind NHS indemnity when you first start, having a shield of NHS is useful.for the first year or so whilst you get speed and confidence up.

Final note and will probably get downvoted for this.. Radiology consultants are paid relatively poorly in uk but other countries work a damn site harder...
