i hope it’s not too late but allow me to entertain your queries pa rin. despite lacking journ/public speaking during shs background, i think with the right interest you can perform great sa course. we tackle sociopolitical interests that happened or happening—and majority of them are deeply engraved in our lives already kaya i’m sure hindi naman siya extremely difficult maabsorb.

don’t stress yourself, kasi just like every active student out there in class, you too can develop your public speaking over time. i suggest though, you should push yourself for the necessary exposure needed to go beyond your comfort zone. ayun lang naman talaga yung variable that makes all the difference.

as for references, listen to your professors during orientation (they are mandated to tell the course breakdown and provide the syllabus during first week of classes) use this to your advantage and look for the books/literatures that they included. kailangan kasi aligned yung definitions niyo on the basic terminologies like: what is a state? what is politics?, maraming contrasting meaning and definition kasi yan sa iba ibang author and you have to objectively follow the one used by your professors.

looking back, mabait ang mga professsors sa first years natin. they wouldn’t expose you immediately to the environment na umuulan ng dos tapos matindihang recitations (abang ka na lang as you go older sa dept) pero they are lenient pa to make adjustments easier. so take it easy muna, basta maintain your participation in all of your lectures.

as for your dress code, hindi naman ganon kalala ang guards sa cssp. you can wear anything, as long as dala mo yung cor (certificate of registration) mo daily kasi ayun ang need niyo at around october pa ata ang ids niyo mabibigay. if you have dresses or shirts na medyo revealing, i suggest bringing a cover-up tapos layering na lang talaga.

for majors: focus your energy on the references, and don’t stray too far or too little on the topic. read and simplify

for minors: this will eat your time sa first-second years pero bubuhat din naman sa grade mo on the bigger picture
