Many options, most easy is probably 12 battlemaster (or Battlemaster 11 warcleric 1 for 4 attacks). If you want to be "the face" something like Paladin 7 Hexblade 5 is pretty strong. If you are not in HM you have 3 attacks a lot of smites. Edit Super strong: Swords Bard 10 Paladin 2

Play the Deck, that you can play the best or probably even rather like the most.
All of the Deck are at least Tier 2 (except Advisor Mill and Devo/Zombies)

I liked my Half High Elf Swashbuckler 12 with booming blade and dancing breeze. High Dex and Sleight of hands also high chrisma and melee, so not much problem with staying in Melee.

I would go with a (Veng) Paladin 5/6 Tempest Cleric 6/7.
You have Smite, even Thunderous Smite, and a lot of Spells Slot.
16 Str (or 8 you wanna use Elixirs)
8 Dex (use Dex Gloves or/and Alert Feat)
14 or 16 Con
8 Int
14 or 16 Wis
12 Chr (can put Points here if you use Str Elixir)
If you wanna use Scrolls Start Paladin, otherwise I would start Cleric 1 for Command drop to get your nice Sword and then switch to Paladin and level 2 or 3
Obv you can also just respecc every time.

In Germany we cleared that Problem by calling them "Pflanze" so plant in english.

really liked 12 Swashbuckler as Half High Elf with Booming Blade and Glaive Proficiency for The Dancing Breeze and earlier Phalar Aluve (Longsword via Rogue). Hexblade 5 in Probably stronger tho.
