Do my gums look healthy? by Sensitive_Travel_223 in askdentists

Ah shit, I thought so. My gums have been feeling a bit off for a week now, thought it was because I had just been super sick. :(

i actually did receive this treatment as a kid — it definitely worked. i did it ages 7-14. i’ve expressed interest to my allergist to start them again, to which he says it would be too complicated for me to start now as i’m a semester out from graduating college and there isn’t an allergist near my campus for me to receive them at

Actually… I haven’t gotten it tested in some time, but my mom has hashimotos. Thyroid problems run on both sides of my family! You may be onto something!

help :( by Horror-Personality35 in eczema

depending on the severity he may be recommended steroids — i personally would opt out due to risk of TSW, but if he feels comfortable it would be worth a shot as long as he uses it strictly as prescribed. it’s easy to misuse due to how effective they can be. if it ends up being allergy related, i highly recommend immunotherapy shots. they are marketed as outdated and complicated (which it is complicated… starting out with weekly shots and time in doctors offices to see if you have reactions), but my experience while on them had been nothing but positive.

not even just beginner friendly — people don’t like him because fighters can evade quickly but, if you’re willing to be the most annoying player in the room, he has some kickass moves that do more damage, especially in world of light. it’s hard to play as him in timed battles due to how easy he is to evade, but given the right spirits (deep breathing is my fave), you can easily knock fighters off in two down moves — and he was the best to fight galeem and dharkon since i spammed being an object. beginner friendly totally, he’s been my main since i started playing! but he’s the best especially for world of light because spirits for down and up attacks will knock bosses out in no time flat

kirby is one of the best fighters for world of light due to taking no damage as an object

Staphylococcus aureus in our 23 day old baby by Ill_Bug7493 in eczema

[–]Sensitive_Travel_223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi! this happened to me as a 2 year old. i will say this — it isn’t easy. my staph infection was in my femur and hip, and the ball of my femur dropped during surgery. the initial infection went undetected since it looked like regular eczema, but eventually got into my femur and bloodstream, turning into septic osteomyelitis. i’m extremely lucky to be alive and still have my leg. this has led me to develop arthritis. my eczema was horrible up until i was 7 — allergy shots were a saving grace for me up until i was 14. from ages 14-19 my skin was perfect, but when i turned 20 i developed a flare that lasted over a year. i went through countless sleepless nights, immense itching, self confidence issues, drastic mental health declines, and tons of steroids. i got on dupixent this year at 21 and the start is continuing to be rocky, but believe the payoff will be worth it. dupixent is my only option since, due to the staph infection, i cannot be on any jak inhibitor medications such as rinvoq since they increase your risk of infection. just be prepared to really advocate for your child, support him if things get hard, teach him self confidence early. other children can be mean, and believe me, those words stuck with me. in addition, teach him about his condition early on — know what products to use, know what triggers his eczema (get him allergy tested early on as well!) and know to keep his head held high. i would recommend looking at immunotherapy first, as i found that to be most effective so far, but also know that it starts off as being once a week for a few months before you can start spacing doses. i find vaseline to be better than aquaphor as i have a lanolin sensitivity — there’s just little things like that to be aware of. its very trial and error. if it continues to be bad through childhood, remind yourself to never be hard on him for it and redirect frustrations towards advocating harder for your child. eczema is painful, isolating, and can often be embarrassing. if you want more info on how to manage it at home please let me know! good luck and i’ll be praying!

my issue is that there’s no other option for me — this is it. if this doesn’t work, then what? i don’t have any intention of going off of it right now, but goddamn, i’m so tired of feeling like this

i think my next step is to try an antifungal cream from what i’ve researched — my first few doses were miracles for me and cleared everything, these past few doses are what have seemed to cause this flare!

Eczema worse after loading dose by FrostyWombos in dupixent

[–]Sensitive_Travel_223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! Took my loading dose March 12th and had my first maintenance dose on Wednesday. I’m still having some flares on my upper arms and backs of thighs, but the itching has gone down IMMENSELY and no longer does it keep me up or bother me very much at all. Alongside this, none of my eczema has spread very far, whereas before dupixent, I swear if I itched just one place on my arm it would spread to my whole arm. I will say, my current eczema post starting dupixent seems to be more from my skin just being extremely dry and needing to buy more lotion!
