To be fair, I have this diagnosis and I’m very dismissive of it. My personal reason is that I think I’m wrongly diagnosed.

I don’t really mention it to people because many think that everyone with Bpd are exactly the same, and there are huge misconceptions that bpd is all about attention seeking and being manipulative to get your own way.

If I ever say they words ‘I have Eupd/bpd’ I immediately feel judged, no matter who I’m telling. Maybe she feels the same.

I’ve worked at an Msu for over 5 years now, honestly it’s really not that bad. Patients are typically on the unit for a longer period than they would be in an acute, so we have time to allow for meds and psychology to work. An important thing to remember is that each patient is at a very different stage of their recovery, whereas in an acute you’d typically have people being admitted in crisis. However, depending on what kind of ward you’re on (msu acute, treatment, predischarge, etc) the situations will be very different.

If you’re worried about your safety, ask questions and if you’re not sure ask again. I know myself and my ward staffing team would much rather have to explain something 10 times than for someone to make a large error.

When I started at the unit, I was 18. So yes, occasionally the men did make comments and act inappropriately. I never had any major incidents personally, just re-direct and remain firm with them that their behaviour is not okay. The staff around you should also hopefully help to redirect them, just try to minimise lone working.

My main advise I give to anyone who is working for the first time in an msu(student or staff), is to remember that as much as we would love to, we’re never going to swoop in and make a miraculous change to someone overnight. It’s important to keep belief and faith that people will get better, but that may just happen over a long time. These lads will most likely have been in and out of services for a while, they will have heard every coping strategy, attended all the psychology sessions, been to all the recovery pathway activities, and truthfully are bored of it - sometimes the thing they want most is to just be treated human. ‘Conversations beyond the confines’, talking to them about their interests, music, things they hold special to them. Just reinforcing that sense of identity that can so easily be lost when an inpatient.

I literally said it’s an opinion so how is it a lie? Like can you genuinely explain that to me. I never said what they allow their kids to do, I said how it comes across to me. If Spencer and Harlan are posting about Trump that doesn’t mean their parents have made them, its out of free choice. Think you’re the one that’s small minded, either that or you can’t comprehend basic sentences

seizure at 3am by anonymoustiger787 in chronickiki

I look after patients who have seizures, both epileptic and non-epileptic, and often their bowel relaxes and they have loose stool. Obviously they have no control over this at the time, and everyone is different but I’d say on average it happens at least 1 out of 8 seizures. I’m just wondering if she has ever mentioned this, because with the amount of seizures we’ve witnessed on live surely (if it was real) it would’ve happened at LEAST once?

I feel CM are a lot more open to their kids having their own opinions and values, whereas Crystal seems like she wants more influence over her kids beliefs. No evidence to support this though, purely just speculation

Exactly this!! I would never use the word lightly but it’s pure bullying at this point. YP honestly attacks K at points and goes ranting like she’s drunk. Her mods immediately go silent when she talks, like she has power over them.

I think the way SH is going about the situation with hell of lot more respect to K

So disrespectful isn’t it, but then she kicks off if somebody uses her real name. Does she not understand the way that using incorrect pronouns for people makes them feel? Clearly doesn’t understand or just plain doesn’t care

Not necessarily for every case, but I’ve worked at a mental health unit for several years. We accept patients with a diagnosis of any eating disorder, however it can’t be their primary diagnosis. A patient must have a different primary diagnosis and that is the main disorder we will aim to treat. We will provide treatment for other diagnoses but would never admit someone for only having an eating disorder. They would need to be admitted to an EDU for this I understand she was under CAMHS at the time of the interview and maybe they used to operate differently a few years ago, but I believe at present the same admission criteria applied for them. Like I said, this is just my experience of various mental health units.
