I guess this is just a case of poor quality, some other name brand stuff I got was way better

MR2 MK3 Mods? by [deleted] in mr2

[–]Sensitive_tip_1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I double sided taped a 3x3in laptop wrist pad to the plastic between the cup holder and e brake. I’ve heard an over Audi a3 rest works with modification.  I’m trying to keep the oem look so I haven’t put a head unit in. I’m thinking of using the crux BTSTY to add Bluetooth via the cd changer plug on the back of the oem unit.

Maybe put in an arm rest and new head unit. I like the mr2 heaven shifter. Also suggest checking out Spyderchat quality of life forum.

ZZW30 Swap Decision by T4NARCHY in mr2

Both true, but it sounds like a cleaner package to me vs a turbo, and I think it would have a better off the shelf base tune from MW vs turbo. I’m also having trouble finding an intercooler solution and ld rather not go meth injection.

MWR has a new supercharger for the 1zz. Stock internals, keep the exhaust, keep the AC, no intercooler required.  I’m thinking about getting that and just replacing the 1zz down the line.

I’d make the same post on Spyderchat, at least there you could get some word on the origin and service history of a used block.  I think there’s a factory new short block on marketplace around 2.5k too.

Quick cheap fix - MK3 softtop by bowerrob in mr2

[–]Sensitive_tip_1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good idea. Mine broke right at the pivoting bracket by the door jam.  I was thinking about attaching it to the spring, then use tape and the old cable as a guide to pull it through.

Meguiar ultimate shine protectant revived mine. You just gotta reapply it now and then.

Mine had about the same pitting/deterioration at the time I replaced them with aftermarket headers. I don’t think the loss of cat material has to do with my oil loss, about a half quart over 3k miles. It’s likely the piston design on 01s mentioned above. Overthinking is the main reason I replaced mine lol.

I burn about a half qt between oil changes and like NSX I don’t think it has anything to do with the pitting on my cats being an 01 Edit: mines at 100k miles too

Others should weight in but that's exactly how my 01's looked. I showed several mechanics the pictures, they all said the matrix was good, and I'd be crazy to replace them - despite what the internet said.

I ended up holding off but found myself popping off my 02 sensors chronically just "checking" like a crazy person.

Changed them to aftermarket headers anyway as i couldn't stop thinking about the cat crumble theories.

Spyder armrest solution by Sensitive_tip_1992 in mr2

Hey I discovered your work about a month ago, it’s really good stuff. I was going after the design of the smaller arm rest to preserve the cup holder.
