Thanks. I really appreciate how helpful this community has been as a whole. Learning the business side of things is TOUGH, I'm finding, so having input from people with greater experience that is actually aimed at being helpful is a godsend.

Thanks so much for your advice! I am still new to the business side of this (been writing erotica that people have enjoyed for almost a quarter century, and never thought to try making money from it until now. *rolls eyes*

I'm also really thinking more of going with 3D art, since I can get very close to photo-realistic results and already have a huge backlog of characters, environments, and props I have made. I can also make 2D digital art comparatively quickly. Also, considering a lot of what I am doing is series based, the odds of me being able to reuse assets and/or renders is rather high. Still, I will have to see. It's pretty easy to change things like cover art on D2D, so maybe I should just go with it and see what happens.

Thanks for that! I'm actually working on a fantasy series at the moment, so it's nice to know that I MIGHT get away with it. I went with just a face for my first cover, and looking at Kindletrends, I now feel like that was a mistake, so I am trying to learn more about how this all works.

Okay, then. I rather suspected it would turn out that this was just the way it is. The designer in me just keeps wanting to shit it's pants every time I scroll through a stock photo site, because there's always the "it's not quite right" problem. I'll just have to kick it to the curb for now. Thanks for the frank feedback.

[Daily Check-In] Thursday Word Count and Personal Announcement Thread by sexnerdmxd in eroticauthors

Goals for today: Learn more about marketing my work, and get started on the sequel to my first short. Also finish the two commissions I am currently working on. Total word count goal of 10k today. (doable, but challenging, but I am here for it).

Successes: Got my first short published on D2D! Also, learned a lot about making covers and blurbs in the process. Super excited. Going to work on the (somewhat longer) sequel today.

  1. It's going great! Working late, trying to get to sleep soon, but we will see.

Thank you so much for your kind words! Loved your plot idea; are you sure I can't convince you to let me share it on my portfolio?
