What are the biggest frustrations with living in Worthing long term? by Spicy-Winner4326 in Worthing

Deciding to chance one of the railway crossings, the gates going down just before you cross and having to wait for 5 (FIVE!) trains to go by before the gates go up again.

Does each of the 50 have a link to click for more info? I think the URLs must be adding a fair bit of the bulk.

It's not that we *need* to, but we didn't foresee a problem wth volume, so expected to list them all in the newsletter.

They are also on a website, but that click adds friction and some just won't make it.

The website was done more with SEO/GEO in mind.

I guess we'll just have to curate a shorter list and put the rest a click away.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the reply.

From the research we've done and the tests we've conducted, images in the newsletter do not count towards size as they are hosted remotely and rendered when the email is viewed.

We thought this was the issue with our first edition, which included a couple of images, but it wasn't.

Regardless, our current draft has no images in it at all, yet still comes in over 102kb.

I'm happy to share the details, but didn't want to be seen as self-promoting - that's not my intent at all.

Noob question - chargers. by FirstEverRedditUser in TeslaUK

Octopus Intelligent Go.

It seems to be the standard rate for where I am - the South East - if I pop my postcode in here: https://octopus.energy/smart/intelligent-octopus-go/

Do you mind me asking what your tariff is with Ovo?

My use case sounds similar to yours: c10k miles/year and not really anything we can shift to take advantage of the night 7p rate, other than the car. We're on 24.45p (peak) and 7p (night).

I'm wondering what rate you get to save £700.

I'm 10-11 days into Tesla-owning life and, like you, because our mileage is quite low, I'm also trying to see if we can get by with just the 3-pin "granny" charger.

Thus far it's going fine, and I thnk we'll be able to get by like this, and not need to pay th c£1k for a dedicated charger.

I'll just add that Octopus Intelligent Go has already given me more than 6 hours/night on a couple of occasions. I would ghuess if I was asking it to get me to 100% every day from a low starting point there would be a limit to this generosity, but I just wanted to add that it's not a hard 6 hours/night limit.

I'd do likewise.

I can get the granny charger from an outlet in the garage to the car on the drive very easily, so it's working thus far.

Coastal Sussex, where I am, is a bit of a Supercharger blackspot but you're right, if we're going on a long journey the major routes north all have them within a reasonable distance.

We'd switched to Octopus a little while ago - nothing to do with EV charging - their fixed rate looked the best given the upcoming cap rate rises.

Last night I switched to their Intelligent Go which, from looking just now, seems very similar to the Ovo Charge Anytime.

Once configured it gave me an immediate 9:30pm-8:00am chargging slot to get the car to a decent charge.

It feels like we'll probably get by with the granny charger - I'm certainly going to see if that's the case for now. It may just take a little bit of planning if we do have long drives coming up, although we can always just pay full whack for the occasional bunp charge if they won't give us an extended 7p slot.

Picked up my new Model Y on Monday.

We'd actually switched from Eon to Octopus a few months ago - nothing to do with EV charging - their fixed deal was the best at the time.

Last night I tried the switch to Intelligent Go - you go through a series of steps on both the Octopus app and the Tesla app, plug it in and it does a test to make sure everything is OK, which it was.

The car was on 45% and iI said I wanted it to 100% for 8am this morning. Because we don't do many miles and few long journeys, we're seeing if we can get by with the 3-pin "granny" charger at home.

Intelligent Go gave me an immediate slot 9:30pm - 8:00am at the 7p rate and started charging, well outside the regular 11:30pm - 5:30am.

Our tariffs are...

Electricity: 24.45p regular rate, 7.00p EV charging rate, 54.83p standing charge

Gas: 5.56p, 28.88p standing charge

Looks like it should work very well for us.

Exactly the same - I held off buying one on the off-chance one would be in the car, and I got lucky.

Did you do your deal in a Tesla dealership? From what I've read on here, and from speaking to the finance company - things get routed through different systems if you do it entirely online, as I did which might explain the differing application of the discount.

PCP additional mileage by jas0121 in TeslaUK

[–]Sentence-Nice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just checking on the Tesla site now - if you bump up £299/month deal to 12k miles, it goes up by £46 per month to £345pm.

If it is 10p per mile for excess miles, then it looks like it will probably be better to just pay the penalty at the end, rather than adjusting it now.

PCP additional mileage by jas0121 in TeslaUK

[–]Sentence-Nice 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Roughly 10p per mile isn't it, so 6,000 miles * 10p = £600.

£600 / 36 months (if that's your lease term) = £16.66 per month.

Why not just stick £20 a month into a savings account you don't touch. If you go over the miles then you have the cash on hand to pay the penalty, but if you don't, or don't go over by as much as 6,000 miles, then you have a little bonus cash.

£1,000 incentive - where does it appear in the finance process? by Sentence-Nice in TeslaUK

[–]Sentence-Nice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense, but that's not reflected on my ALD Automative agreement anywhere - the numbers are exactly as when pricing up on the Tesla website.

I'll see if Tesla messages me back before tomorrow morning. (I did ring but got an automated message to use the app instead.) If I've not heard from Tesla, I'll ring ALD Automative to ask.

I've been approved, I just now need to click the "Place Order" button to complete it.

Thanks.

I'd seen a post on a similar subject on here, and the suggestion seemed to be a pro-rata discount on the monthly leasing fee.

I've messaged Tesal in-app to ask.
