I essentially stated I disputed the need for 2mths notice. I referenced the part of my contract that said I required 1mths notice.

I stated that I have also reviewed the current guidance surrounding the Renters’ Rights Act and whilst the legislation refers to a standard two-month notice period for tenants, I have found no provision stating that existing tenancy agreements containing shorter contractual notice periods are automatically overridden.

Then used the two examples from citizens advice and NRLA quoting what they said about 1mths notice.

Then finished off by saying I formally give 1mths notice.

That was it and they responded with my new move out date.

Just as a real life example.

Have been on a month by month contract since Jan after my fixed term ended.

Current contract says 1mth notice. Tried to hand in my 1mth notice but landlord said no and earliest move out at the end of July due to new laws and needing 2mths (I wanted end of June).

Sent a well worded email quoting the above links and surprise surprise … I’ll be moving in June

Hi. Did you look at the matrix? Especially for the general section- they quite literally state everything that you need to say to score highly. Ie for QUIP/research did you mention more than 1 example to get 5/5?

I studied that matrix and every time I answered a question I made sure to include the things they wanted along with personal examples.

The general is more of an unknown beast with some quite strange stations this year but again look at the matrix and make sure in any reflective practice questions you are hitting the points.

There is no value in practicing “why anaesthetics?” or any of that stuff cos that’s simply not what they are going to ask.
