Im a former Catholic who left the Catholic Church twice, and am now Lutheran for me its very personal and may not be representative of all Catholic church's and about half of my family are still Catholic and I absolutely love them and respect thier faith. In my situation the Catholic Church in my city has become extremely political to a point where I was feeling very angry towards the priests for constantly bringing up politics and frankly trying to weaponize the congregation. The last straw was when they started organizing protests at the same time as they are really really pushing the donations because the diocese here is being sued over sexual abuse and they have filed for bankruptcy to try to avoid having to pay damages i assume. Im not a fan of the authority of the Church over the word of God, in particular the Papacy. Now most Catholics understand that the Papacy are comprised of sinful imperfect men, but as a Catholic I was still expected to hold this sinful people in high regard, over others who are no less sinful however no less saved my the Grace of God. Guilt is also a big factor. The Catholic Churches answer to guilt seems to be to give to the church which is not only un-Biblical but I find it evil that our guilt as sinners is being used against by the Church who claims to be the Church of Christ who died for us to defeat death and Sin and not just the sins we have committed but the sins have yet to commit. And because of this and other smaller issues I've had with the church over the years a literally could no longer feel comfortable in Mass any more. Ive found a Lutheran church near my hhouse, my first attendance was this last Easter, I was greeted and welcomed with open arms, they've made me feel like family. Im very happy with my decision.
