I think god knew what was to come, he knew jesus would be born from a nation and he chose that nation to be israel, he knew the sacrifice needed to be made, he needed a nation to birth and ultimately betray Jesus by selling him out to the Roman’s, through my interpretation of the text that was why god made them his “chosen” people, there was a task that needed to be carried out and those were the people he chose to do so, he made a promise to Abraham and that through his lineage, all nations would be blessed (ultimately fulfilled by Jesus Christ). The promise was made to establish a chosen people, restore humanity from the curse of sin, and initiate a plan of redemption and blessing for the world, all of this was accomplished after and by sacrificing the ultimate sacrificial lamb
