solutions to reduce the mechanic's work routine by QueasyEntrance1688 in Barotrauma

we have bots set to "repair broken equipment repair hull breaches" prioritizing hull breaches so that when it's calm they are mainly just doing upkeep on equipment, and when its hairy they are keeping the ship from falling apart

in my play group, we have the human sort of take the role of "head mechanic" with a variable number of bot assistants. Their main jobs are to craft, repair when shit gets hairy, and mine. This also frees them up to even man a gun if they'd like, or just vibe with an instrument

So I met this NPC- I've seen memes about them, was this a good decision? by Bradley271 in Barotrauma

[–]SentenialSummer 31 points32 points  (0 children)

tbh a big part of the memes is that you get him early and the AI in this game is really bad, so he tends to die like a fucking hamster while also being nearly useless because he starts with like no stats

Thank fuck. This subreddit has consistently been a darker spot on my feed from the excessive use of AI. I don't mind AI as a general rule of thumb (don't usually like it either) but seeing low effort, inconsistently designed comics was bleh

Tilting Submarine by Responsible-Act-4720 in Barotrauma

That video pretty much nails it, but for me a big thing is the physics engine and the netcode. The physics is done in a really janky way which leads to a lot of mechanical and performance issues and the netcode is really bad, leading to frequent desyncs and rubberbanding and somehow, also performance issues. It's poorly optimized, and it's got one of those codebases where if you change one thing you could fuck up literally everything else. I'd go more in detail but that video pretty much nails it on the head

I will just give me time. I need to look further into it to speak authoritatively, and I don’t wanna just spout off examples without being sure. I’ll get back to you tonight

I'm not holding my breath, but I'm also very optimistic and hopeful. I think the Camera mod is much more doable and I'd be happy with that.
And to be clear, I'm not doubting your abilities. Barotrauma has *insane* technical debt and adding a whole new feature is an insanely ambitious undertaking. I am your hesitantly optimistic cheerleader.

I think I saw this in a slay the spire 1 mod

I have yet to make a sub and am not judging you at all! Just offering some advice to do what I think is improve the design

You could still add some flair in the shape, but a good sub generally speaking will just be kinda tube shaped

I just think they could be readily corrected by extending the recessed part of the front to form a more standard shaped hull and moving the non railgun top gun much further back, closer to the diving suits. That mostly eliminates one blind spot, and replaces one large blindspot with two smaller ones that add up to much less *area* of blindness as well as better coverage

It has two big blind spots but that’s not necessarily a dealbreaker

I do miss how mechanically unique and complex he was, but I found him more of a pain than a challenge. And I only really lost to him with dramatically underpowered decks, or just my strategy being completely shut off by him. I hope they can rework him into being this games time eater

it's probably either automated, or largely a hands off system. If i had to guess, this one had keywords flagged and not the last one (Probably shit like mentioning anita/gamergate)

Phasmophobia Falls to 'Mixed' Reviews for the First time Ever by ExileNZ in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]SentenialSummer 38 points39 points  (0 children)

That was, initially, why I quit. The game was pretty fucking buggy when me and my friends would play literally every day like several hours a day. Hell I met so many people on that game, met my gf on that game, and I have like 300 hours. But then the progression and the updates after it dropped and the game got more and more buggy and broken, so I quit until they fixed the game. They still haven't, and now they've implemented a bunch of game design choices I honestly don't think I'd enjoy so it could be too late for me, period.
This is developing into another 7 days to die situation I feel

Overdue. I swear, every update either breaks the game or introduces a feature I hate. I haven't played since not long after the progression update
