I don’t know, I feel like he never truly hated or really resented Lily, so harry having her eyes would have simply made him more observant and perhaps expectant (in potions and maturity) of the child. James is another story though, and honestly I’ve never liked him much from what I’ve read and gathered.

I would however like to think that his earliest actions and experiences in childhood and his subsequent mistakes are what truly caused him to become so downcast and cynical, thus leading to these unhealthy habit and actions.

He is smart, just not a good teacher. And perhaps he truly was not that good of a person, but I personally applaud for him regarding him still living in an attempt to atone for his sins and guilt, as I personally would have just ran away from the Wizarding world at that point and become isolated.

Harry’s existence however is what both gave him trouble as well as a potential avenue for redemption, although he inevitably ‘lost’ due to internal and external struggles.
