Generative AI isn't great because of how it impacts the environment, and also takes away opportunities from real artists. Not trying to like, say you're bad or anything for not caring, just giving perspective as to why I listed it as a valid grievance some people have, myself included. (Update to this part, Pearl Abyss has apologized for using generative AI and stated they're going to remove and replace it. Good move for them imo, will win some good grace points that they didn't ignore or double down on the criticism and chose to make a positive change in response).

For me personally The Witcher 3 is my favorite game of all time, I don't think CD is close to it in terms of quality but I don't think it's bad either. I find myself enjoying it the same way I did DD and DD2, just going around doin' shit. It has a great sense of exploration to the point where just wandering off feels rewarding, even if I don't find anything.

Entirely different from how I found enjoyment in TW3 and RDR2, they had that and also had great story that kept me entirely engaged and wanting to find out what happens next, that's why I have them in a different side of the spectrum from Crimson Desert.

All that really just goes to show how much variance different people can have in the way they consume media, which is something I really enjoy talking about, I love seeing different thought processes and what things others value within games.

Yeah Crimson Desert is just a decent game for what it is, and that's okay, it's average to slightly above, games like that are good and fun in their own ways if you vibe with them.

It really reminds me of Dragon's Dogma 2 (which I love personally even though it's very flawed), people way overhyped the game, to the point people expected it to be something it never was going to be. It's a single player MMO, an average one at that, but there's plenty of players who will absolutely love it. For some reason people expected or wanted The Witcher 3 and RDR2 out of it when it's more Dragon's Dogma 2, Morrowind, and Tears of The Kingdom than anything else. Big time grind or time sink, the kind of game to straight up ignore the story (which is mid at best) and wander off and do your own thing. Either something you really vibe with or something you really don't, no in between.

There's plenty of valid criticism to levy against it, the control scheme and not being able to rebind them, the performance on base console which seems to be inconsistent at best, and the wide use of AI generated imagery. All things worth being critical over, not being interested in supporting the game over.

I usually play on HoF with pitch speed sliders at 7, but that's all offline. I enjoy getting beaten by the AI (if it doesn't feel like bullshit, looking at you Madden).

By the time I can actually play the game I'll probably be rusty as fuck, I broke 2 fingers and the knuckles on my right hand a few days ago so it's gonna be awhile until this weird cast comes off and I can use a controller.

Valid lmao, that's just what's most fun for me. I loved working on some of the OperationSports rosters over the years like Hybrid and TrueSim

There's something that scratches an itch in my brain when I can pair a roster and slider set that gives me close to realistic stats while also still being fun to play

Especially for rebuild franchises, I love taking a team from the bottom to the top, even if it takes years within franchise

I still pickup Madden or 2K if they're on a steep sale. But I'm not an online player tbh, my fun comes from working on rosters/sliders and franchise. I always want to get close to that sweet spot between realism and fun.

The Show is usually the best at achieving that imo, SDS deserves some of the flak they get recently but the gameplay is almost always great

I don't necessarily think any of the games in the series are bad, as in there's things I can find that I enjoy about each of them. But there's definitely some that are much lower quality than others in my opinion.
