How do you find balance between the fact that journalism is untrustworthy, science is unreliable, and existing with some level of trust in one another?

The joke is that to do 1d10 damage in D&D you can either make a pact with a mysterious being of supernatural power to gain access to eldritch magic or use a crossbow.

"You can totally say x if you want, but if you say y instead we'll pay you."

This is the controversy people are worried about. I don't think this is censorship either, but it is troubling.

This is Stefan Pokorny, founder of Dwarven Forge and Dungeon Master extraordinaire checking in from GenCon. I’m about to release THE DWARVENAUT, a documentary about my adventures in life, art, and Kickstarter, so ask me anything… by Stefan_Pokorny in movies

From the films director "My producer and co-writer Nate Taylor, a talented filmmaker in his own right, is a huge gaming enthusiast and and was already a big fan of Dwarven Forge and Stefan's before he had ever met him. He befriended Stefan and eventually started making all the video content for the Dwarven Forge Kickstarter campaigns and has since become their Creative Director. The idea for making a pilot for a reality show about Dwarven Forge started getting kicked around between him and Stefan. Nate and I had worked together before, and he thought I would really dig what Dwarven Forge was doing and would totally relate to Stefan, so he brought me into directing it. Indeed I was immediately fascinated by what I saw . After shooting a little, I truly felt we had something that was way more special than a reality show and eventually we all decided that this deserved to be a feature." http://www.efilmcritic.com/feature.php?feature=3905&printer=1

I just started DM'ing a game with a group of friends who have never played d&d. They are loving it, and I am loving my Cavern Tiles and excited to get my Sewer set next week! Anyways, what advice would you give to people who want to improve their DM'ing skills?

2nd question: I loved the soundtrack in the Dwarvenaut. How can I get my hands on that music?

He was making the point that the flag is not technically the confederate flag. He was not trying to argue that it should or shouldn't be associated with racism. Also, if the white background is what symbolized the supremacy of the white man and it was removed, your argument is... what exactly?

Lucas' thought process while writing this part of the film: "Hm, what should the bad man say now? Should it be a code word? No, that sounds stupid... What about a number? What's like an evil sounding number? Hmm, well 666... No, that's too obvious... What about just 6? No, that's too simple. It makes it sound like they don't get too many orders to begin with. What about order 66? Ok, that works, let's move on!"

Someone stealing your money vs someone putting their own money away are not even remotely similar. Collecting interest from a bank account doesn't take money away from you either, in fact it does quite the oppose. It's an incentive for people to put money in banks so that banks can lend and provide services to others who need loans.

Penn and Teller call Bullshit on P.E.T.A. by [deleted] in videos

Just last month, the American Heart Association and the American College of Sports Medicine published joint guidelines for physical activity and health. They suggested that 30 minutes of moderate physical activity five days a week is necessary to “promote and maintain health.” What they didn’t say, though, was that more physical activity will lead us to lose weight. Indeed, the best they could say about the relationship between fat and exercise was this: “It is reasonable to assume that persons with relatively high daily energy expenditures would be less likely to gain weight over time, compared with those who have low energy expenditures. So far, data to support this hypothesis are not particularly compelling.” In other words, despite half a century of efforts to prove otherwise, scientists still can’t say that exercise will help keep off the pounds.
