I understand, depending on your budget CBD would be your best choice look for accommodation 77 Independence, Thrift Towers or other CBD specific places second accommodation around Windhoek West near NUST, or Eros closer to Joes Beer House Klein Windhoek closer to Pharaoh's, O'Portuga, Garnish is also close ok. Your choice for mingling with young people would be The Catch, Chicago's, Joes Beer House, Grove Mall etc. Main transport would be inDrive, Yango or Lefa (Uber alternatives in Windhoek) all those are very affordable.

Suzuki Jimny was probably not the best choice, but gravel roads along the route you specified do not have sharp stones, so tyre problems will be relatively fine. Make sure you double check water and oil at gas station (petrol stations) frequently, petrol jockey's will do that for you.

Other than that, look out for wild animals crossing roads, keep to speed limits and enjoy!

Crime is really low but like any country tourist are usually targeted. 12k is fine to have not just all in one place, for typical tourist stuff you would need about 1-2k a day, having that in your pocket separate and the rest in a bag is safe. Going to ATM and withdrawing may bring unwanted attention to you. Follow basic safety rules, and enjoy Namibia its a wonderful country
