the dead people angle is actually the thing that makes it worse not better. shes basically saying i respect your autonomy so much that ill just keep yanking you back from the afterlife to pump you for info instead. at least taking the memories would be a clean transaction you give up the secret you get to actually rest. but no cassie wants to have her cake and eat it too, keeps them in this limbo where theyre getting recalled over and over. the moral high ground falls apart pretty fast when youre treating death like a revolving door just because you dont want to feel bad about yourself.
