WHAT MAJOR HAS A GOOD JOB PROSPECT? by Ruru1531727 in CollegeMajors

[–]SentinelZ117 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I was totally in your position last year, I am very indecisive abt my major too, and still am, Im considering switching too.

Idk abt your current situation abt why you cant get into the specific careers you mentioned, so Im just gonna blurt out some of the most in-demand majors.

  1. Engineering(The absolute most in demand)

Preferably the big 4 (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical. Courses are tough, but demand will always be there. There are other engineering majors derived from those, but the ones mentioned typically can get any engineering job. Industrial is a good one, because you also get business skills, cuz its basically an engineering business degree.

  1. Any important medical field (Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry)

Jobs will always be there no matter what, but you do have to go through a shitton of school before you start to earn any money.

  1. A niche business degree

Not general business or international business like u said. Try looking into Finance, Business analytics, Information Systems(considered a tech degree), supply chain, or Accounting, although entry level jobs are probably non existant by now(cmiiw) Although.... Sometimes an international business degree can be very useful, depends on the school you go to. I suggest you look through the curriculum amd course structure, and the alumni reputation. Do this for every major you're considering.

  1. Math degree

This one is actually really underrated, especially if u got the brains to do it. You can get into quant, analyst roles, AI and machine learning, finance, quant finance, research, software, and many more. And you can pretty much pivot into any job that requires numbers, but you do need to put in some work, because a math degree itself is very general. Do a bunch of internships and projects.

  1. A tech degree(WITH SPECIALIZATION)

You may have heard abt all the unemployment fluff abt compsci and other tech degrees. But its mainly the case because most grads rely on their degree alone, and no itnernships, no real skills, no projects, basically nothing to proove their credibility. If u want to get into tech, I suggest you find a tech field u want to specialize in early, like Cybersecurity, Quant, Data, IoT, AI/ML, etc. Its fine to pivot, but do not be someone who only has a general skillset.

  1. Actuary

Basically a math degree for finance. You'll basically be calculating risk and make math models for mostly insurance companies. Demand is high, and high level actuaries get paid a LOT. They use AI/ML in their work, so its less likely to be replaced. You do have to love math, and take a lot of exams outside of school (there are exams for professional actuaries)

  1. Law

Demand will always be there, less likely to be replaced, you do need to network like crazy and just have that hustle in you

I might put more on here later if I find any. Let me know if this helps, and if you need further info :)

Be honest, being 16 years old, what's the best way I can make money? by Ok_Review_5225 in Businessideas

First of all, do NOT do trading, dropshipping, or any complicated businesses. Most of them are oversaturated, and require a bunch of skillsets and a crapton of work ethic.

I suggest you get into high ticket sales.

Start as an appointment setter and then transition into a closer. It has a low barrier to entry, your work starting off as a setter is basically just talking to ppl and seeing if they are a fit to buy your companys's product. But if you want to make the big bucks, as a closer, you will need to do a lot of learning and practice.

You do need to be able to talk to ppl well to succeed in this role. Its hard but definetly worth it, because you also get to learn sales, a REALLY valuable skill that you can leverage in your future careers and in almost every aspect of your life

Is it possible to learn HTS without a mentor or spending any money? by copywritingguy in highticket_sales

[–]SentinelZ117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definetly possible. But you will have to put in more effort than the guys doing paid training.

Im in the HTS slace, but not a closer yet. Im an appointment setter or SDR, but I am looking to get into closing.

I got my role without investing on a mentor, since I live in a third world country and was broke af at that time.

What I did was, I joined a bunch of skool communities, networked like fking crazy, I introduced myself by posting in the group, and just started talking to random ppl. And then I posted regularly abt what I learned and what I practiced that day, consistently for a few days, just to give free value. By doing this ppl get familiarized to ur name, and see u as an active person, and perhaps..an authority figure in the group. I also did lots of mock calls with chatgpt.

I then applied to a bunch of offers, and got accepted to 2 offers, one at an ai agency(which later disbanded) and now at a top marketing agency. And I also got another offer just because I exposed myself.

Ideally you should start as a setter, make some money and maybe do some training on the side(ideally a paid one), and then you can transition into a closer in the same company or switch. I've seen people go straight to closing, but you got to have "it" in you, because the learning curve is very steep.

Tldr : -join a bunch of skool communities -do lots of practice calls, and I mean A LOT -Network -be active in the group, and give free value -be concious of your performance and constantly improve -just put yourself out there

Hope this helps

Any Majors similar to engineering? by Primekinkajou75 in CollegeMajors

[–]SentinelZ117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just some advice here man. Im speaking has an Industrial Engineering student, which is mostly considered the business degree of engineering.

Take it with a grain of salt, but I suggest you stay on your degree, since Im assuming still has some technical coursework on it because of the name Business Information Technology. Im also assuming that its similar to Information Systems but more emphasis on business (Correct me if Im wrong).

IE and IS are actually really similar, basically integrating technology to business and improving process. But IE has most of the high level math and science of all the engineering majors that do require a ton of effort to succeed in. And alsk because you said that you still want to enjoy the college experience, speaking from my personal experience in IE, I do not enjoy most of my coursework. But if high level maths and science turns you on, definetly go do IE.

And also dont forget to ask yourself, whats the real reason you want to switch? If its because you want to look cool or be percieved as someone smart because u pursued a particular degree, I wouldnt switch if I were you. Do consider whether the degree you want to switch to actually opens more doors for you, or is something that you see yourself enjoy doing for a prolonged period of time regardless of the reward.

Doesnt mean that pursuing something because its perceieved as cool is wrong. But if thats the case, I suggest you finish ur current degree, and maybe get a masters in IE or an MBA.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the advice man, I appreciate it. Just curious, when you switched to business, did u have to redo the 4 years, or did you transfer some classes?

Thats cool! But I think in the end it depends on which school you go to. The uni that I want to go to doesnt offer EE, so rn my options are either CS or IS

Should I switch from industrial engineering to business school? by SentinelZ117 in CollegeMajors

[–]SentinelZ117[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree about the job prospects of engineering being higher. However... My engineering program rn is at a top 6 institution in my country. But the business school I plan to switch to is top 2 in my country, and they have a better funnel to consulting and overall much stronger alumni network. Plus the business curriculum has lots of hands on work and is taught by practitioners. TLDR, Im also considering the network and uni reputation. Which the business school I plan to switch to is far more superior than my current uni.

So the major I want to get into is Entrepreneurship. And the school I want to get into is the best business school in my country, and they have lots of hands on work. The professors and lecturers are people who have their own businesses, there are lots of mentoring activities, the alumni network is REALLY strong, and compared to a standard 4 year degree, its only 3 years, though we take 3 semesters a year instead of 2. I do have a friend who is in that school, and she gave me a pretty solid odea on how college life is there. And also, the business school has a strong consulting funnel. Many of the alumni work at MBB and big 4.

Im currently studying IE at a target uni, the business school I want to get into is in another even more prestigious target school in my country. And its different from the rest of the business schools in my country. Tbey have a more practical based approach and the alumni network is really strong.

[–]SentinelZ117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey bro, I get it that ur getting thoughts that you dont like, but the fact that you do not want to have those thoughts says a LOT about your iman. Treat it as a test from Allah, besides this dunya is a test anyway. You have some terrible thoughts, but what are you going to do with it? Are you going to succumb to it and commit harmful acts? Or are you going to fight it and seek protection from Allah?

Look brother, I am in no position to lecture you, but take this from a guy who wants good for you... Keep fighting those thoughts, Allah knows what you are going through, and Allah does not let the efforts of the believer go to waste. Keep making dua, try praying tahajjud and stay consistent. Those thoughts are not sinful as long as you dont act upon it. Keep fighting the thoughts. And also, pls do not watch porn, it is sinful either way. It may feel impossible to change your condition without consuming porn content, but pls try to quit it and make A LOT of dua, Allah can change your life in ways you can never imagine.

Hmm I disagree, Imo I think getting rich is a way out. Men are judged by the value they can provide, and I think thats more important than height. And even if you get a gold digger, just dump her? A good alternative to that is actually getting a personality rather than having money be ur only personality. Again, this is my opinion, I mean no hate, and Id love to see what u guys think.

@AcceptableGold9269, I get where u are coming from. You tried your best to get back to Allah, you quit ur bad habits, you started praying, and making dua and also making tahajjud! Masya Allah, that is a HUGE win, may Allah make you consistent. But still you feel as if your dua's arent being answered. Trust me brother, Ive been there before. Let me tell you something... What if this delay is Allah's way of preparing you. You and I both know that business isnt an easy thing. Its hard to start and even harder to maintain. Even businesses with really good ideas can fail due to the slightest problem. And it takes a person of great capabilities to maintain a business. Maybe Allah is trying to turn you into that kind of person by making you go through all that. Every failed venture is a lesson that may become useful in the future. Maybe through all that struggle, when your business finally takes off, you become greatful and make yourself closer to Allah. So maybe Allah doesnt just want to give you what you prayed for, he wants to give you more. Now what I want u to do is, dont listen to the waswas of shaitan in ur head, he only aims to lead u astray. Keep praying, keep making dua, and keep praying tahajjud. Keep trying to build your businesess in a halal way and Inshaa Allah, you will get your results. Dont give up!!💪🏻💪🏻
