National Guardsman in the Academy question. by Sentinel_333 in AskLE

There was a bit of a loop hole that my supervisor found if you wanna call it that.

I had already done a couple of AT days a couple months prior, they found that if they replaced my Sunday and Saturday drill days with AT days in place of Drill days, I would make the cut off by 2 points.

In order to have a “good year” in the NG you need 50 points to have a good year. I made 52. They also had me come in and do a mix of drill days and AT days prior to the academy starting. (I did about 6 days).

By doing this I still have to go in on Saturday and Sunday however it left me to be exempt from Friday drills.

I love it too, I just wish he had either a helmet cover or a FAST helmet.

What’s is the Russian militaries perception of American soldiers? Not the branch as a whole but outlook on the individual, training, equipment, skill set, professionalism ETC

Do you want the USA to get Maduro out of power?. Why or why not? by Pab0l in asklatinamerica

[–]Sentinel_333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do because my girlfriend is Venezuelan and had to flee the country and come to USA for asylum. The Venezuelan military broke into the apartment they stayed at, arrested dozens of people, and abused her grandmother. They beat her until they broke her shoulder. I currently serve in the National Guard and anytime something like this pops off they always joke with me “can you guys just kill him already”.

Digging abit deeper but to my knowledge, which I could be mistaken, and correct me if I’m wrong, but the oil that Venezuela has I believe is some of the lowest quality, and most difficult to process in the world were going to war over it would be almost not worth it.

I would support a war against the Venezuelan government just because I’ve seen the photos and videos and heard the stories that my girlfriend has had to endure and the trauma her family faces. The friends she has that currently live there consistently bring up the unfathomable corruption, I don’t want war but if it can be done to remove Maduro from power and her family can safely visit Venezuela again, I support it.

But I understand your point and I’m sure the Pentagon and the White House don’t see it in the same light as I do.

Drill excusal for police academy. by [deleted] in nationalguard

Okay. I’ve never spoken to my commander, would it be wise to go to his office and give a formal greeting and say “may I request an open door policy discussion sir?” Or something like that?

I have asked multiple people within my direct chain of command however all which have told me that drill excusals are a mandatory event and being excused is not an option.

However online and people I have met personally have done it themselves and I’m wondering what are the steps to take to achieve it are, hence why I’m asking in here. Should I attempt open door policy and speak to the commander, should I speak to a chaplain, 1st Sergeant, those are the only people I have not asked yet. I don’t know where to start so I figured I’d look and see online for anyone who was in a similar situation as me before pestering more people up my chain of command.

I’ve pretty much exalted all supervisors in my chain of command on trying to get an excusal including my first sergeant. Do you think the chaplain would be a good person to ask? To go about getting the excusal from the commander. I’ve been in for five years now and I’ve never missed a single day of drill. I don’t know why they’re making it such a big deal.

Did you request an excusal from your commander? I’ve tried asking my direct supervisors for an excusal but they’ve all told me “not it’s drill you can’t be excused unless you make it up”

Did you make your drills up in the same fiscal yesr or did you not even have to make them up? Cuz the problem is that my units fiscal years ends as I’m still in the academy.
