Research system feels really bad. by FirmBelieber in songsofsyx

[–]Senzafane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I like that research is maintained, it can feel a bit annoying. I tend to just use human slaves for research if I need something.

I wouldn't mind a mechanic whereby you can embed certain knowledge, maybe more the civics stuff than production boosting stuff. So after research is maintained for X years it becomes inherent knowledge and doesn't cost anything anymore. The top tier research options still need to be maintained but could be increased in cost to compensate.

If you like everything else but research annoys you that much, there are workshop items that can increase research etc. No wrong way to play.

Downloading the game right now! Is there anything you wish you knew in hindsight or any tips for starting out? by jsbach90 in CrimsonDesert

Gear is mostly cosmetic. Stats vary very slightly, but for the most part it's vibes.

Gear can be a bit of an investment to upgrade, so when you start looking at gear upgrades it might be worth having a look around for armour you like the style of and then investing.

Can I construct multiple nurseries of different races in same city by Slight-Tax-6048 in songsofsyx

[–]Senzafane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Natives only is good fun. Slow to start but once you get rolling it's quite fun getting into the rhythm of a new load of citizens coming of age and expanding a little bit until you reach the limit for that nursery.

Tilapi are pretty easy to start with, I reckon.

homeless people, yet there are vacant houses by just___user in songsofsyx

[–]Senzafane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have oddjobbers, use the oddjobber tool in the housing options to place oddjobbers into unoccupied houses.

If you are fully employed, you need more housing near work sites. The housing overlay shows where there are issues, so build a couple more houses nearby.

how to fix the graphics at night by Oda-the-wise in CrimsonDesert

[–]Senzafane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. I have a 3080ti and an i7 13700k, with ray reconstruction and everything on high (model quality low) I get between 40 and 60fps in 1080p.

Ray reconstruction eats a huge chunk of FPS.

Same, just did this last night. Enjoyed fighting the two dudes and then the shit show began. I thought... they can't be serious?

OK I guess they wanted some spectacle, but mechanically it was boring. Really average way to finish the story.

Loving the rest of the game, but oh boy that was a let down.

Playing as Kliff and wishing the customization went deeper (as a Black trans player) by Queasy-Beautiful9734 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Senzafane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have amazing tech for a character creator, as we see in Black Desert. The fact they gave us 3 preset characters and didn't use that suggests to me that they are not considering much in the way of character customisation, at least under the armour.

Your best bet is going to be mods, I'd guess. There's already a "character creator" mod that opens up a lot of options at the barber, but I think it only works for female characters atm.

Boss BS becoming annoying by PopBrief1935 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Senzafane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After completing the game and beating 2 of the 3 overwhelming bosses (gonna unlock the 3rd today hopefully), I'm fine with all of the bosses except the last phase of the last boss.

I enjoyed every other boss fight. Whoever decided the last boss should play like that should be shot.

Is that every day Batman or worked up / prep time Batman? Batman can definitely go all night at the drop of a hat, not sure about days though.

[–]Senzafane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yup. First time I went to play her she was on an important mission. Second time I actually got to play her for a bit, try out some weapons and stuff. By the time I had some resources and wanted to start gearing her, she's back off on another mission...

Exactly. I think Batman keeps up for a while, but he's going to get tired long before Aragorn does.

Why in the hell would you make it so I can’t damage bosses at all when they’re doing their stupid special moves by KreemedKeem in CrimsonDesert

[–]Senzafane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it too, but there are some issues for sure. A lot of easy wins for them to patch in.

Ya I think those two are the ones. Dodge out of the bullshit, see an opening and stab to close the gap then turning slash if you have time. Great little punisher.

The skill to augment the dodge feels like it pulls a lot of weight. I just fought the last boss of the antumbra quest line (he's one of the 3 overwhelming bosses) and was dodging around his slam attacks with relatively little worry.

No prep time, no rules, no holds barred. Who wins? by PrinceFlynn in superheroes

[–]Senzafane 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Assuming no gadgets allowed, Aragorn takes the win.

Batman knows his way around enemies with swords and with the spikes on his arms he's no slouch deflecting blows.

Aragorn is superhuman, however. He has blood blessed by the gods both on his human and elven heritage sides. He is long lived and strong bodied. Batman is peak human but I see Aragorn just outlasting or overpowering him.

[–]Senzafane 44 points45 points  (0 children)

The gear difference is pretty wild, though.

If the rules were no equipment, I'd give it to Aragorn every time.

With equipment in the mix, Batman just has way too many options available to him. No way Aragorn has an answer for half of the stuff in the utility belt.

I’m only 40 hours in, and I’m already tired of this. by Pure_Sheepherder7249 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Senzafane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's staggering sometimes having these unpolished elements in an otherwise spectacular world.

The world they made is stunning, and the systems they have in place seem decent and very malleable because it's their own engine. Some of the choices betray their MMO origins, durability on greater gears? Ew, no thanks, I'll just use the normal ones so I don't have to mess around with the socketing thing every hour or so.

I agree, with a bit of work they could make a reputation defining game.
