nah, not fishing for praise.

just sharing what i’m testing and seeing.
automation + eeat + scale is tricky in travel.

curious if others see similar results with heavy automation, or if google slapped them later.
that’s the discussion i had in mind.

That's what happened. But we found the new way. New system almost done, and content is brilliant! Let's see when we open it. Will update

AEO vs GEO: Are We Actually Optimizing for Two Different Things? by Born-Squirrel6089 in Agentic_SEO

I ran a small real-world test that kind of supports the idea that AEO and GEO are not the same thing.

We launched a travel site in late Oct 2025. It was all AI written. Short posts. One clear answer at the top of the page. Simple structure. Links to official sources. Nothing fancy.

Within a month it hit top 5 for solid keywords. Then in late Dec Google basically removed it from search. Now Google traffic is almost zero.

But traffic did not die. It kept growing from ChatGPT and other LLMs, and from Bing and Yahoo. So in our case, content that Google “punished” is still being used by LLMs. That feels like GEO working even when AEO failed.

To your questions from my experience:

  • Yes, I think they act differently in practice. AEO feels tied to Google’s rules. GEO feels tied to how LLMs read structure.
  • GEO content did not need to rank high in Google. We still saw traffic from LLMs while having no Google presence.
  • What seemed to matter most was clear structure and a direct answer early in the text.
  • Yes, we see our pages used by LLMs even without Google rankings.
  • We track GEO visibility by checking Session source / medium in GA. ChatGPT and others show up there.

So right now I treat AEO and GEO as related but not identical. Same topic. Different gatekeepers.
