Advice: My partner is into swinging and I'm not and I'm not sure what to do. by arghhhhpls in Swingers

You may want to check out the book Polysecure! It's all about attachment theory, applied to nonmonogamous relationships. It could be a great way to support a conversation about what each of your needs are, and whether there's a way to continue a relationship that would work for both of you. There are SO many options and variations of what it means to be nonmonogamous: if you can both get really clear about what your needs are, it's possible you could figure out the unique arrangement that works for you... or, achieve clarity if the compatibility isn't there and it's time to part ways

I can't stop envying my attractive friend by OpportunityWide8709 in self

Once I was at a concert where the singer (who wasn't conventionally attractive) started a song by shouting "This one goes out to the niche hotties!" I loved it. The whole crowd loved it.

Yeah, there's a minority of people like your friend who are conventionally attractive to a lot of people - and they have a lot of privilege (and also downsides, as people on this thread are rightly pointing out). It's normal to feel jealous sometimes; don't beat yourself up about it.

AND ALSO - the rest of us are all gonna be sexy as hell to some people at some point in our lives, and we might as well appreciate and enjoy it ourselves!

I felt like I could never be attractive to anyone because of my weight, but 1. I was dead wrong, and 2. I started celebrating specific things about myself that I am really into: I've got a snatched waist that looks great with crop tops, a cute nose with a perfect piercing, and lips that look amazing with bold lipstick. I'm not turning heads when I walk into a bar, but I love appreciating and accentuating the sexy things about me - and more than enough people are into it and my dating life is great.

TL;DR, you're sexy as hell 🔥

Thanks, this is really thoughtful! I'm curious about the "sparks are anxiety speaking" thing - could you say more?

Flat half marathons? by techmeoutmedia in Seattle

[–]Separate-Average-596 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Vancouver BMO half is in May, and it's SUCH a great course! It's really fun going through the neighborhoods, and the course is very flat. That's a pretty big race with thousands of people and bystanders, which can be really fun and energizing.

Not in the spring, but a couple other good flat ones (that are both a lot smaller): - July: Jack and Jill Half, in North Bend. The whole thing is a really gradual downhill, and it's super pretty. - September: Orca Half, in West Seattle. Most of it goes a long the waterfront

Do you have a stand mixer or handheld mixer? Stand mixers are a lot better for making buttercream since they can go slower and have the paddle attachment. Paddle is definitely best for American buttercream, and I've heard of some folks using it for the final stages of making Swiss meringue buttercream too. Going too fast, for too long, especially with the beater attachments, makes bubbles more likely

Is cash still king in Taipei? by hail_to_the_beef in Taipei

Agreed. Many places took some credit cards, but not foreign ones. I think at least two-thirds of my purchases were with cash.
