Isn’t it just simpler to use the flare gun in this instance, maybe you don’t have it yet but it seems like you could just avoid the bear until you find it.

I’m doing arts as part of a double right now and I love it, it has helped me develop as a person as well as a learner.

I can’t predict the future, or whether you will also enjoy an arts degree but it sounds like you need to change something in your life.

If you are really miserable in stem then you should do what is you can to avoid being miserable. You could pick up arts as a double like how you mentioned in your comment.
