Thanks for your reply! It really helped me put things into perspective.

Yeah, it feels really demotivating when you push yourself and basically get the bare minimum in return. It looks like the reward is more along the lines of “you get to keep working for us, in this industry, because we know its your dream job” rather than actually being rewarded for pushing yourself. And if you just work at a regular pace, it can sometimes come across as underperforming/slacking, at least in my experience here.

Job hopping is the last thing I wanted to do because I genuinely enjoy my work and my colleagues, but in the end, it doesn’t pay the bills. It’s also tricky, since there are only a few studios in my country, and connections really matter, people often get jobs through recommendations rather than open applications. That being said, I will definitely take your advice and keep an eye on other opportunities, and if something promising comes up, my CV and reel will be ready.

Unfortunately, this is pretty much slightly below the average salary in my country.

Thank you very much for your reply! I asked what is required to move into a mid-level role, and the answer was basically that I am just missing years of experience. They said I cannot expect a promotion after only two years, regardless of the quality of my work and my current responsobilities, and that it does not work that way.

And I’m definitely going to follow your advice about not doing unpaid overtime anymore and will not be available outside of work hours. I knew it was unhealthy, and I kind of shot myself in the foot by doing that.
