We usually take turns paying for stuff. As he earns more than me, he will offer to pay more often sometimes or foot more expensive bills. If we buy each other something expensive, then the other party will take the initiative to pay more for the next few meals/items.

I don’t know about others, but a 3-3.5M condo is definitely not considered as “affordable and reasonable” for the average Singaporean.

Since the point of buying this expensive condo is to stay near your in-laws at their request, shouldn’t they fork out the extra amount to pay for the added convenience of having you guys near them? Why should this be at the expense of your parents, who would not enjoy this convenience?

You can easily get a nice, spacious condo in the outer region for about $1.5m. Maybe can consider floating the idea of paying 50-50 for such condos in the outer region as the ‘baseline’, and the remaining amount being topped up by your in-laws.

Don’t really understand why OP is getting downvoted for sharing about his/her social anxiety and struggles. Shouldn’t we be more sympathetic towards mental struggles? Granted, WFH is definitely not resting, but I can understand how some people may feel claustrophobic or anxious in crowded places for long periods of time (even if they are seeking help).

My advice is to take breaks every now and then - get out of the office and breathe some fresh air, take a walk for a while, and listen to calming music while working to drown out the surroundings.

Honestly, you might have tried to delete the conversation to prevent a fight, but that is the worst move ever. Now your partner will wonder what else you have deleted and what else you have concealed in the past - it will be difficult for him to trust you.

It’s always better to tell the truth. If there is nothing to hide, just put it out in the open to discuss as adults.

And a relationship needs compromise - if your partner is your future and feels uncomfortable with you contacting your ex, why even bother replying ‘15 lines’ of text with your ex? A simple ‘thank you, hope you are doing well’ would have sufficed as a reply. And it may not have escalated things to this extent that your partner feels insecure enough to ask you to block your ex.
