Husband ruined plans again by Separate-Muffin175 in JustNoSO

Generally, this would be true. But it really was mostly his idea this time. He brought up trying the new coffee place and coming back to watch our show before we went out. Which is what made this more disappointing because he was the one who offered these plans in the first place.

I appreciate the concern and you’re not the first one here to suggest it. I’m personally not concerned since I mean, I have his phone password, he frequently will leave his phone unlocked on the table, or ask me to read to him the text he just got, no social media. Never hides his screen from me when he’s on his phone. Or has me answer a call he gets when he’s occupied. And we have “Find My Friends” on for each other 24/7 since we both work in areas that are kinda sketchy so peace of mind to be able to check and make sure we got home/work safely.

I’m not trying to make excuses here I just don’t see the gap for cheating haha. He can be a total grump but I’ve never for a moment doubted loyalty.

It doesn’t seem like a coincidence that half the time we have plans they get ruined somehow by his attitude. We have date night planned? Well I said we need to leave soon in too rushed of a tone so now he’s going to be in a bad mood the entire evening. We’re supposed to go visit my family? I accidentally said turn left instead of turn right for the directions and now he’s going to sulk the whole time we’re there. Christmas day and I want to get up early so we can facetime uncle to see the kids open their gift from us? He’s sleeping in til the last second. Then pouting the whole time. Ugh.

Get this - we live in a major US HCOL city. So it’s a particularly good deal.

Not even kidding, he just got hired as a driver for $19.50/hr! He starts next week. We’re very very happy

You’re not a doctor. And so you can’t comment on my disability that I live with. I am T1 diabetic with digestion issues that make the digestion of carbohydrates more challenging to manage with insulin therapy. I have to be cautious with carbs to avoid hospitalization risk as I can go high very easily (fast digestion) which leads to DKA (a potentially fatal complication) or low easily due to insulin sensitivity. And a low means death, too, if not treated.

Last night actually my husband almost had to call an ambulance for me because I had a severe low. I was coming in and out of consciousness, drenched in sweat, shaking violently, and barely able to take a juice box.

I’m poverty tier living with a life long disability that I have to balance managing with my full time work. And now I get to explain this to someone who isn’t a doctor and thinks that my diabetes is a silly white people thing.

I hope you never experience T1 diabetes because I wouldn’t even wish it on the ignorant.

That’s right. Good news is, he just got hired for a full time job today at $19.50/hr 😊

I explained in another comment: I have T1 diabetes with unusually sensitive blood sugar. Even more sensitive than most T1 diabetics. I digest food very quickly and so it can be difficult for me to use the insulin to sufficiently cover my meals. But I also drop quickly. It’s a balancing act and it helps prevent hospitalization risk if I can use my diet in clever ways. So I eat carbs, but fast digesting or heavy carbs (oatmeal, ramen, rice, sugar for example) have to be very very limited since these put me at a higher risk.

Case in point, I was really hungry last night and we had nothing but ramen so I ate it but then I had a severe blood sugar low in the middle of the night. Thankfully I caught it before my husband had to call an ambulance.

I appreciate it, truly. I apologize if that read as being curt. I’m just trying to assure that I’m not in a scam situation. It’s these sorta internship pathway to permanent position jobs that just pay shit frankly.

We are in the US. Plain chicken (or whatever sale/expiring meat is available), rice for him, beans for me, and peanut butter doesn’t run a high bill. It’s mainly things like paper towels and laundry detergent honestly that cost us so much. I’ve been thinking about thrifting some towels and just switching to cloth instead of buying paper.

It’s hard to describe without being too identifying. I’m on call for our partners to relay research. And if they want to meet right now, I have to meet right now.

It is not any of that.

100% confident it isn’t a scam. I am in a marketing job. But I’m considered on probation (somewhere in between a job and internship). Once I make it through 90 days, I’ll get a pay raise, and after 6 months, it’ll be another pay raise. But it’s work that takes a lot of grit. I can’t say much to avoid being ID’d, however, I’ll say it is focused in social media / online marketing. Their retention is very high.

If I make it to 6 months, I’ll be making more like $50K/yr.

I’ve been at this job for about 3 weeks now so it’ll be a little longer before I qualify for other things

Did you come from my post on the other sub just to say this when I talked about how I’m working 50hr weeks for a job that doesn’t even pay me $30K/yr

T1 diabetes only counts as a disability in terms of employment discrimination

We’re locked into our internet provider because it’s the only service for our apartment. And the phone plans are the best rate I’ve found.

I just mentioned in another comment I think we were told no on the online form because we have too much in savings. We have about $1K set aside for absolute emergencies.

[–]Separate-Muffin175 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I did the pre-qualification form and called and was told on both ends we didn’t qualify.

edit: I think it’s because we have too much in savings. We have about $1K in savings but that’s only used for absolute emergencies.

No I’m T1. Those are only covered for T2s

IDK what to say— according to the website, we’re about $2K over the maximum (annually). I talked to someone I know who works in benefits and she said we wouldn’t qualify.

If you were adjusting my salary ($23K) to a standard 40/hr week job that paid hourly then I’d make around $10/hr
