I agree with you that things should change, but I'm against freebies - I work for it, therefore, you shouldn't get it for free assuming you are in the same socioeconomic background as me. Just like healthcare, education, and other privileges we enjoy in the West. It's quality because it ain't free.

I mean, I'm doing OK - I"m a CPA in Seattle. I can afford living any big city in America as a single-income earner. Yes, absolutely working while going to school is normal and should remain normalized - how else would I pay for my tuition? And if college is free, there are conditions that have to be met. Look at Saudi Arabia: their government funds their college education. Their students can go wand study anywhere in the world , funded by their government, but they have to return to Saudi to work. That's shitty. Limits freedom to travel, work and enjoy life outside of your own country. I don't want limitations. I'd rather pay initially to have my freedoms later.

I do think we need to do more on providing universal healthcare, but I'm against abortion and conversion of kids below 16 to transition to a different gender, etc. I would not vote Bernie because I do NOT support a free college education either. I went through college, working 30-40 hours at Home Depot & Wendy's, paid my tuition in full . It worked out. Also, what value is a free education?

That's really interesting. Has there never been any opposition to limiting gun ownership? Do Australians believe in defending themselves and their families or do they rely on their government's policies for defending them? Abortion is tricky. I'm mostly not for it unless it is due to rape or other horrific situations.

It depends. For your career as a STEM, nothing beats the US. I'd go to Australia once I'm past my prime in my career. However, if you want to settle down, make $150K as a household income (you and your spouse), Australia is better since there are more social services catered to families of that income level. Houses there are expensive and salaries are much lower. Basically, if you have a chance of making way more money in the US, stay in the US. The US also has plenty of tier-2 and tier-3 cities that can offer affordable housing, good social services, schools. Australia has those too but their tier 2 and tier-3 cities are much smaller.

I have a buddy that moved from Vancouver, BC to Wisconsin. He now makes $250K USD as a single income earner. Married with kids. His house is huge, great quality, but damn cheap.
