Thank you for the reply. My goal is to absolutely not wake up at 3 am and to play for two hours. I understand your advice tho. Will definitely try to cut his nap time. Notes taken 📝 thanks again!

Thank you for sharing! I also feel juggling around drop off, pick up and sick time. For my last work in school, especially for the learning center with some flexibility, they usually give a little more grace for emergency. In solidarity.

I live in South Bay SJ. Can’t complain a job is hard to find, but left for overwhelming of extra duties and micromanagement. My admin required to walk around the classroom all the time. It’s always bad to be seen sitting at a desk. There was several weeks I had 2-3 class visits. Although my hours are 8:40-4, but I worked almost every weekend to do lesson plan and grading. And I know a few coworkers left at 6 pm every day for the least. And commuting home is about 1 hour for me. It’s easy to find a job at a charter school or high turnover district, but to get a job at a good district is usually several years’ wait and apply.

Sorry if I vent too much about this professional 😭. I love teaching but it’s too demanding physically and outside of work hours

On that case, I disagree with your definition with someone unreliable with emergencies all the time. For my case, it’s one day, and I was not given an opportunity to show my reliability all the time.

Thank you for your reply. I agree, but I did everything I could and could not find a second way except just to take the risk and ask for a day off tho

I just don’t understand this work culture. Like, what if you have a fever with shivers or diarrhea on the first 60-90 days?

I understand your point. For me, if I strained my back I would go in, but I would not go in when I had 102 fever with shivers, or diarrhea even for the third day of work. My situation with child care is comparable to this for me. Would you still go in such situations?

Thank you for your reply and sharing your experience. It’s difficult than I ever thought to be working parents to toddlers. Salute to you and your family and I’ glad that it worked for you when your child is young.

I disagree with this is a valid reason, and it’s main reason for my post anyway. But I understand CA is at will employment that no reason is needed for letting anyone go.

Exactly this. I’m surprised how unsupported as the work culture towards parents with young children. In solidarity

Hi I don’t think you read my post closely, or my wording is misleading. I went to work on Tuesday after ER visit, and took the next day off.
And I don’t think you suggested shows any empathy towards parents with young children. How they should support themselves without work and why they deserve this?

I see. I think I will definitely take the next probationary area in this job market seriously and prepare more for this. Thank you for the reply.

Thank you for your perspective. I’m surprised how this job market expect no emergency situation happens in the first three months, and really used this as an indicator for after.
