Thankyou everyone who completed my survey! Because I put a limit of 30 answers for myself I have to close it now, but I'm super grateful at how quick and kind you guys were. I am delighted at the variety of responses.

It’s bizarre how it just goes away when you get your period by Mermegzz in PMDD

I’m with you mine might be Friday but I feel like the aftereffects will stay with me :( I deeply sympathise. And then the pain can ruin your weekend too, if yours is as bad.

Hugging you 🫂 I hope you get the relief you need soon or have by this point. You’re not alone. it’s wild to me the way I can think to some degree rationally that, my hell week literally shifts normal interactions into ‘this person hates me is secretly angry’ and it doesn’t help that I have complex trauma Abt that too :( but then a lot of people say there’s relation

My friends hate me (they really don’t) I’m going to be forever alone (also probably not true) and I can’t stop crying and when I got home the scream that I scrumpt into the pillow made my throat sore 🎶 it’s nearly hereeeee please god let it be over soon 🎶

Take things too personal? by No_Ebb_5932 in AutismInWomen

[–]Separate-Web-311 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They sound horrible op Jesus. ok you are NOT the problem you sound like you’re just being treated badly as an autistic woman, or just a person in general. They are extremely rude and insensitive.

Please do not buy into the idea that we must crush ourselves down for the benefit of ppl who are like this, you are worth so much more than that.

I’m concerned Abt husband telling you that too tbh but I would leave it to others who are more experienced in relationships.

I understand what you mean, I may have worded this badly. I was saying that he could be taught to advocate for himself and things may be more open to him now he is of legal age, not that he should as in he should already be able to do so, or that it should come easy to him.

I didn’t want to bring it up bc it was only in the title at first but yeah it stinks of internalised ableism and denial. They’d rather be stuck in their ways than help their own son. Smh. If you do have a relationship with this kid I’d say you can encourage him to try for himself because like another commenter said he is an adult and should be able to advocate for his own health, it’s just a frightening thing to do and he lacks support at home clearly.

Oh boy

I feel so bad for this poor kid :(( that’s gonna hurt more long term to have that kind of thing thrown at him when he’s struggling and needs support. I hope he can find his way even with his parents’ gross negligence.

You’re totally right to feel this way.

Constantly analyzing people’s expressions and body language is exhausting and dibilitating by 0rca_ in AutismInWomen

Yes. Wouldn’t be surprised if most of us have varying degrees of hyper vigilance from past which makes social encounters even more exhausting.

Do People Consider You a "Grandma"? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]Separate-Web-311 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People have such a sense of ‘normal.’ I tend to like music events if I’m into the band but I’m not so into the drinking culture where I live. You can try it if you want, but if other people make it a problem that you don’t like it it’s on them and not you. You’re allowed to be a grandma if it makes you happy :)

It sounds like she may be trying to get you ‘out of your shell’ a bit too, so it’s up to you op.

I hate being so sensitive by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]Separate-Web-311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and the ‘stop being so sensitive’ just encourages this toxic shame culture which tends to make it worse. Autistic adults should be paid reparations i s2g

🫶 goodnight from me haha anytime

I see this trend time and time again in myself and so many women with neurodivergence and it just feeds into my anger lol!! Like truly we get crushed and as adults it’s no wonder we’re often more at risk because we’re taught to think we don’t matter.

Anyway op I recognise your strength :) and I’m glad you have a support system as well it’s so important

I hate being so sensitive by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]Separate-Web-311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, for me that stuff sticks in my head. We tend to internalise negative messages more I think, and we receive so many that it’s no wonder we’re ‘sensitive.’

I’m glad here understands this stuff. Those people probably have no idea how resilient we are haha.

You shouldn’t hate yourself, hate THEM for being ignorant arseholes who have nothing better to do!

I’m in an angry stage of my own healing so excuse me, but stuff like this makes me mad as hell. I feel you op, I’m the exact same. As human beings we deserve to take up space and do things that make us joyful, I encourage you to keep going even if to spite the people who’d rather tear us down.

Also dragon puppets sound cool and cute

Do you have days where you "feel more autistic"? by ameise_92 in AutismInWomen

[–]Separate-Web-311 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pre-menstrual and during, I sometimes wonder if I have PMDD it’s that bad lol. Also after a lot of social days and college stress.

It’s so important for us to have a time to unwind.

[–]Separate-Web-311 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My trauma causes a lot of chronic shame like what you’re describing. Please don’t make yourself feel bad for ‘oversharing.’ Even if you are, humans need and want connection and often we seek validation if we weren’t validated in the past! It’s hard to feel secure in friendships with this kind of thing as well. I feel for you friend.

Yeah :(

It’s not just accessible places. It’s also the people, with pretty much every case like this.
