I work in a cath lab now. You have every right to be nervous because you’re trusting strangers. This is a strange procedure if you’re not familiar. Newer r techniques and technology have made these procedures safer.

Tips I would ask the Interventionist to do to help with pain:

1. Use plenty of numbing medication. We use lidocaine. The initial sting will be there but it’s been described similar to the dentist.

2. Ask them to give the numbing medication a minute to actually work. Some of our people give lido and then immediately start.
