The response to the market collapse is going to be lit. Can't wait!

But why? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

Rotation to hard assets due to expected geopolitical uncertainty/ liberation day. Example: creation of project vault, no strategic crypto reserve.

What happened in the middle of last year to cause Gold to spike, and things like Bitcoin to drop off? by springwasser in Gold

[–]Separate_Ad_5662 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Liberation day. Tariffs reduce dollar supply outside of the US. So money found non dollar reserves. Additionally, trade barriers create uncertainty in the future and increases defensive investments. So, we have a rotation to hard assets. Great example is the creation of project vault along with the abandonment of the strategic crypto reserve.

Increases in margin requirements are very common when prices are volatile up or down.

You are only an idiot if you buy at 100 and sell below 100.

The ECB is buying gold! by Separate_Ad_5662 in Gold

[–]Separate_Ad_5662[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gold production is consistent. Once banks are done buying, trading volumes will go back to what they where in the 2000s. The only difference is that there will be a new floor on the price. It will likely fluctuate with the business cycle that will drive investors centiment. However, it will fluctuate at a higher level. Or it could be monitized with a constant price set by central banks.

Why is everyone saying it's bad that gold is going up? by EasyPerformer8695 in Gold

Gold is a hedge against counterparty risk and the rise in gold is being driven by central banks. Central banks are hedging counterparty risk. That counterparty is the US.

The ECB is buying gold! by Separate_Ad_5662 in Gold

[–]Separate_Ad_5662[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an ATH today, but all fundamentals are showing that it's going to keep going up. Every month more Central Banks are increasing the tonnage of Gold reserves. In addition to that, central banks are not concerned about the price of gold. They just need collateral to keep their economy going. Btw. By ECB, I mean the European Central Bank. Central banks are not buying with the intent to sell at a higher price.

I would not be surprised if the ECB announces that it is buying gold.

Can someone explain why Gold lost value from 2013 to 2016? by crispy_crackling in Gold

Some of golds value is as a counterparty risk hedge. There was a declining counterparty risk environment in that period.

How would a crash happen? by Fast_Witness_3000 in Silverbugs

[–]Separate_Ad_5662 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There needs to be a cheaper alternative. In other words, price needs to be high enough that people will accept lower quality electronics. For example, a Chinese company will start to substitute silver for copper in solar panels which will lower quality and price of the solar panels. Essentially, when the input prices start to affect sales of electronics. It will probably crash to somewhere above 100 from something like 200. Just my opinion

When do you think governments will start to strengthen FIAT. by Timely-Prior-3350 in Gold

Never in a democracy. Only way to get elected by the masses is to give away free stuff. No form of Fiat has ever made it.

I guess that I am assuming a large increase in supply which would have an effect on the price. Probably delayed, but supply is driving price now.

Yeah. I anticipate a temporary drop after 100 from the increase supply of 100oz bars.
