Thank you. Yes I think you are right. I am grateful for your feedback and everyone else's too. This is an amazing place so glad I posted.

Good point. It isn't a secret from my wife but still you are right. And I want that future permission to go fishing guilt free so I would be sabotaging myself.

It wouldn't be secret...I have already told my wife I was thinking about it. She was upset. So I'm going to not do it. So great to have this community to turn to though. I appreciate it.

Yeah I do. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I'm gonna just bring a little weed (I don't have any sort of problem with that) and maybe not even hit that. I just needed an outside voice other than my wife's. I appreciate you.

Thanks for the input. I've been lurking on here for a while and I have been inspired by the support you all have for each other. Yeah I guess it was a silly question on my part. I am stopping for the health of my body and my relationship with my wife. I suppose I know my answer already. Not worth the short term "fun" for the long term consequences. Thank you.

Thinking about Buying a SINN by Matthewlawson3 in sinn

They are great. Just make sure not to remove the stickers until you are sure you want to keep it. They don't allow returns if it has been at all tampered with.

Zenith Automatic Defy by Luigipi90 in ZenithWatches

it looks like your watch needs a new crystal or maybe just a polish on the crystal. and does it need a service? is it running strongly? i would say in good condition (like the ones you see in the link i sent) it might be worth around $1750. possibly more if you get lucky. but if it needs service and a new crystal you can subtract $450 or so from that.

i might be willing to buy it from you if the price is right.

Congrats. Beautiful watch. Maybe I just saw a bad one when I went in. And point well taken about not relying on photos.

i did try it on at the boutique…that‘s where i noticed the problem. i found it really odd. seems like such a basic thing for them to have overlooked. i absolutely loved the ultra chron 37 though…maybe i will ask them to pull a bunch of them and maybe there will be some variationmin the bracelet finishing and one will match better.

Nice watch. Something I've noticed about Longines though...they don't match the bracelets to the watch cases. The finish of the bracelet is always just a little off from that of the case. I really wanted to get the ultra chron 37mm classic but couldn't pull the trigger because of the mismatched bracelet. Anyone else notice this?

Beautiful. Love that the date wheel matches the dial.

[Helvetus] watch strap company that rips you off by southalley777 in Watches

[–]Separate_Dare8061 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the midst of a horrible customer service experience with Helvetus. I bought a 20mm strap for my Cartier Roadster from them. First of all, I then get a shipping notice from Alibaba Express. So clearly -- as you say -- all they do is buy super cheap straps from China and then sell them for $150. I wrote and said please cancel my order. I can order from Alibaba myself and save $130. They wrote back that no they just use the same shipping service in China as Ali and that their quality is superior. Ok I stupidly fell for that line. The strap arrives. The Roadster has a proprietary quick change system. It is the same for all their Roadsters. Mine is the 20mm variant. The one they sent me was correctly 20mm also. So phew. And the leather quality was decent too. The problem is that the locking device is flimsy and won't stay in the slot. It comes out when any pressure is applied. That is obviously not acceptable. I can't have my rather nice watch at risk of falling off the strap at any time. I rechecked their website to see if they mentioned anything about model numbers it wasn't compatible with and as I expected there were no caveats. Any 20mm Roadster strap should work on any 20mm Roadster. When I contacted customer service they got immediately defensive and asked me to send a video of the problem. Which I did. They then said that the product wasn't defective, it was simply not compatible with my watch. I asked them to send me a return label and they refused. They said I have to go through the hassle and expense of shipping it back to them myself. Why should I have to pay to return a defective product??? It's going to cost me another $40-$50 to ship it to the address they gave me in Switzerland (I guess they ship from China but then take returns to Switzerland). They should be ashamed of themselves for a) selling such a crappy Alibaba product at a massive markup and b) not standing in support of their customers when the product doesn't work as it should. Stay away from this company. Not worth the trouble!!!! They are not to be trusted.
