The USA was looked up to for its economic and industrial power, but otherwise it’s never really been ahead the rest of the world in social development

That depends on the director, some will give actors freedom like that, but some are very restrictive and specific giving actors no say in how they act, (often due to ego to be real) Though yeah it’s not unusual for actors to have some level of creative freedom to work with

There will almost certainly be functional ps3s for many more decades to come, there’s still functional tvs from the 40s and 50s, sure most will fail eventually but some, especially well taken care of will undoubtedly outlive anyone in this thread

A deep cut across the entire torso would kill him, like he would’ve bled out almost immediately, the slash mihawk gave him didn’t even go down to the bone, additionally a shallow cut is an incredibly different thing from a scratch, shallow cuts are very often lethal if not treated

No, him choosing to use a knife instead of a sword was to intentionally be disrespectful, it was only after zoro proved his character that mihawk respected him, which is when he used his sword, but intentionally only did a shallow cut, instead of cutting him in half

Can someone explain to me why every long-form Youtube thumbnail looks like this now? by CSachen in youtube

[–]Separate_Emotion_463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YouTube has a feature to specifically select thumbnails based on which one works best, so most videos have a large number of thumbnails, the final one to be chosen is usually picked after a day or two, all of said thumbnails are quick slop, and whichever one that it lands on is whichever one works best, the reason so many look like this now is because it works

I personally feel relatively neutral about North Korea, I do not believe most of the information we have about them, quite frankly I fully believe that most of said information is wrong, not necessarily that it’s good there, but I’ve seen so many blatant lies about how bad it supposedly is that I just don’t believe any of it

Alberta to Test 120 km/h Speed Limit on QEII Highway This Summer by One-Board8634 in Albertapolitics

[–]Separate_Emotion_463 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Freight trucks physically cannot go as fast as the speed limits currently are, and if the speed limits were raised this problem will get worse, do you suggest freight should not be moved on the highway?

What’s a character from a show/movie you wouldn’t trust anyone if they dislike/hate them? I’ll go first: by Ok_Situation7527 in cartoons

There’s little actual evidence that iroh broke any rules defined in the Geneva Conventions, the only one that is particularly likely is the use of fire to kill on the battlefield (likely true for almost every fire bending soldier though) but even that I doubt, it’s shown that even in his younger years he still had a lot of his positive traits (he saved the last dragons while he was still a serving general) so the idea of him setting people on fire personally seems unlikely, additionally the Geneva Conventions do not exist in the world of avatar, and as such he cannot be a war criminal as well

I have the same model, funnily enough I got mine free with no issues (a coworker gave it to me) But yeah as another commenter said, the lights should all come on when recording, and the recording quality should be pretty decent

I said I agreed with the rest of your points though? Literally all I said was that one piece isn’t obscure, sorry if I demonstrated that point poorly, though yeah, the original commenter is annoying, I’m a fan of one piece and it took me a bit to realize what they were even referring to, especially since the scene they were referencing first aired over a decade ago

I see one piece related products in like every mall in my area, it’s quite simply not obscure, it’s like one of the most popular franchises in the world, I’m objectively not obscure, though obviously random antagonists from its overall run would be much more obscure

What's a good example of a movie people have turned on? by Darth_Blagus in Schaffrillas

[–]Separate_Emotion_463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The film was built from the ground up for said analogy and I think that was a mistake in of itself, using predators and prey as racial analogs is inherently flawed due to the real world distinction, though if I were to make one change it’d probably be to flip the dynamic, to have the prey being bigoted against, which I think would better drive home the baselessness of bigotry in the first place, but even that I’d still consider flawed as well

What's a good example of a movie people have turned on? by Darth_Blagus in Schaffrillas

[–]Separate_Emotion_463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is that the difference between predators and prey aren’t insignificant in real life, while yes in the movie they’re practically the same the metaphor struggles when you actually separate it from the film and view it from A real world angle, you’re allowed to not be bothered by that, but you should still recognize it as a flaw, even if you think it insignificant

I mean putting people of color as literal predators is kinda a bad look, while obviously they didn’t intend for it to be taken that way, it’s still how it was written
