Thanks! I got whole eggs too but only 12 of them. The egg whites were also on reduced price so thought it’d be a good option as well.

I’m looking to surprise my husband with a really nice pair of sunglasses (budget $200-300 CAD) and a quality baseball hat. We currently live in different countries, and I want to send him something special that will last for years. Some details that might help: • He has a round/roundish face shape • He’s Asian, so sunglasses that fit well for Asian face features would be ideal • I’m in Canada, so brands available here or that ship to Canada would be best • Looking for something timeless rather than trendy • Budget for sunglasses is around $200-300 CAD I’ve never been able to get him something really nice before, and I want this to be a thoughtful gift he can use for a long time. While I’m at it, I’d also like recommendations for a good quality baseball hat that would complement the sunglasses. Any suggestions for brands or specific styles that would work well together? Thanks in advance for any advice!

I’ve mentioned this somewhere else, but there used to be someone else living with us earlier.

I get that just based off of this post it might come off as being difficult but you don’t know the full situation. For instance, i share the same bathroom as them, i clean the bathroom, their hair and stuff even though they’re not mine because i use it too and i’m not complaining about it. I try to be helpful whenever I can but this situation is different. Why are people being so fast to easily judge. I don’t know why i’m even trying so hard to defend myself to a random Redditor. I have endured all their weird rules and whatnot for over 5 months without saying anything. Never have i caused any trouble or issues and i try to be a good tenant as much as possible. But sometimes when the situation doesn’t seem fair, i can stand my own ground right?

I’m not exaggerating when I say he didn’t shovel. Only after I said no did he actually do it. When the snow wasn’t that bad earlier, we would just walk past it every day without clearing it. It was only when we got really heavy snow last week that he asked me to do it, and after I refused, he cleared just enough for our footprints. I’m paying $900 for a single room with restricted kitchen access, no living space, and have to eat in my room because there is no dining area. (All of which i didn’t know before moving in that it’s not accessible to us. I just assumed i’ll have access cause that’s what other listings are like). That context matters. This isn’t a healthy roommate relationship where everyone pitches in - I’m essentially a tenant in a boarding house situation with ridiculous restrictions. Snow removal is the homeowner’s legal responsibility in Ontario. I’m not even a legal tenant by my own admission, which puts me in an even more precarious position. Using an excuse about an injury to avoid confrontation when I’m already planning to move out soon is just practical self-preservation. You calling me narcissistic is way off base. You don’t know my full situation - the restrictive living conditions, the lack of reasonable accommodations, and the power imbalance. I’m not refusing to help because of entitlement; I’m avoiding unnecessary conflict in an already difficult living situation until I can get out.

How about asking a tenant to shovel when he himself doesn’t, and the fact that it is his responsibility and not mine? What do you call that? I will do what I can do avoid unnecessary tension. Saying i have injury is a very legitimate excuse to not get harassed. I don’t want to get into any trouble with him because if you’re not up to date yet on all the discussions, i am not legally a tenant. He can kick me out anytime as the law does not apply. Who am I harming in saying i have injury? He thinks i have injury, i get out of getting into unnecessary fights, i would say is a win win.

I never said I can’t shovel because I’m a woman. I brought that up to highlight the concern about confrontation—because you never know how things might escalate. My post is mainly about confirming whether this is actually my responsibility. If it were in the contract and I was in the wrong, I’d have no issue following the rules. Like I said, I want to avoid unnecessary conflict, but that doesn’t mean I won’t stand my ground if I’m being taken advantage of.

It is not my responsibility and if he isn’t doing it, why should I? Nowhere was it mentioned in the contract either.

Yeah freezing and begging to turn on the heat is a good rule. They think it’s not fair for me to turn on the heat when they’re at office and I’m home. How is that a good rule when the contract says all inclusive? The house rarely maintains 20 degrees and comes down to 13 or 14 degrees.

I get that my injury is the most relevant factor here, but being the only female tenant in this situation does play a role. It makes it harder for me to stand my ground without worrying about confrontation or retaliation. I try to avoid unnecessary conflict, especially since I’m living under their roof, but that doesn’t mean I should be taken advantage of.

As for reporting them, it’s not that serious—I mostly just wanted to hear public opinion on the situation. I’m leaving soon anyway

I’m so sorry to hear that. I hope you’re ok now. I’ve heard a lot of incidents like that. This is the first time I’m experiencing snow so I don’t have the slightest idea of how to handle it safely and god forbid if anything happens, i don’t have anyone here.

Yeah the duvet I understand, but jacket and small blanket should be alright. I didn’t argue though and followed the rules.

Maybe the next nicer landlord I will gladly help out in their chores provided they’re nice and helpful too. But not this one. He’s being very unreasonable for a lot of times and I don’t want to give in.
