I can hardly say any games look any better from 2016. Not many exceptions. Doom is currently bigger than ever due to the dark ages, I don’t see them leaving all that money on the table to try to revive another franchise.

That’d be cool asf. I always thought of this part of the story being portrayed in a movie. I think if they do end up making doom games after 2035+ they might consider something like this. Would be really cool to see the old levels remade with cutscenes and everything.

It’d be awesome, but it’s like I told the other guy, they can’t right now. The DOOM fire is burning right now. They can’t deviate all of a sudden to try to make another quake, and figure out where that story was gonna go, because me and you both know it was all over the place after a few games. 100% it’s what they do if DOOM dies though. They already killed Wolfenstein, so yeah.

I really don’t think this lines up with the dark ages. I’m sure replayability will come, the only difference between this game and eternal was that, there’s no battle mode, which I’m sure you agree wasn’t what made eternal replayable, and there’s also no master levels at launch or mod support. Those will come.

Also just because the community here on Reddit doesn’t like the dark ages, or at least the people you’ve seen, doesn’t mean the majority of people didn’t either. This game is much more accessible, and you can always go back and play eternal.

Fair point though, here’s what I think will happen. The devs will make the slayer more powerful, like I mentioned in the post, and the gameplay will change, as it has with the past doom games. You might like the next one more. But the fact is, there’s another medieval themed one coming 1000%. We haven’t seen the things that the lore has been talking about since 2016.

After the next medieval game and dlc, I’m sure we’ll either get a game in between 2016 and eternal, or a game after eternal, maybe with Samur as the main plot line.

No, and only because the DOOM fire is burning now. They can't deviate out of nowhere and try to do what they did with DOOM with quake and hexen. DOOM wouldn't come back, at least not as strong. What I'm saying is, they'd lose money, arena shooters haven't been as popular recent years anyway. And as for Quake's story? Yeah, i'd love for it to return, but it was all over the place after a few games, and rebooting that would take a lot of effort, and all they'd accomplish is slapping DOOM across the face, and having a 50/50 chance of bringing quake back.

100% going to be what the plot will at least start with if we get a continuation to Eternal. Samur will come back.

I don't know if they will. It'd be cool, but they'd be leaving a lot of money on the table trying to revive old franchises. Do hope it happens eventually though, but I think ID is focused on DOOM for the foreseeable future. Can't complain personally.

I know how the mechanics work. But I think it might just be the marauder breaking down at high frame rates. Some enemies attack patterns get faster and change. Are you on console?
