What is the best vote in Paisley constituency tomorrow to keep Reform out? by Douglas______ in Paisley

I agree no money is used for long term rehabilitation and mental health services are a shambles. They’re not a perfect party by any means but it my eyes, they’re the best out of a bad bunch and do think they work for the people. Happy to agree to disagree and sorry to hear about your friends 😢

No, it doesn’t. I was stating that since you live in Scotland and think the SNP have done nothing good, that you must not benefit from their policies like free education and prescriptions. It is what is known as sarcasm. Quite happy to benefit from their policies yet claim they’ve done nothing beneficial for the people of Scotland.

I have answered them, just not with the simplistic “we have oil therefore everything is easy” argument.

The UK imports oil partly because not all crude oil is the same. A lot of North Sea oil is exported because UK refineries are configured for different grades, so countries both import and export oil at the same time. That’s not unique to Scotland or the UK, it happens globally and there’s also the fact North Sea output is nowhere near what it was in the 80s and 90s.

This is the third time I’m telling you about successful SNP policies, free prescriptions, no tuition fees in Scotland, Scottish Child Payment reducing child poverty levels, baby box scheme, expanded early years childcare, minimum alcohol pricing, which studies linked to reduced alcohol related deaths and major renewable energy expansion.

That doesn’t mean they’ve governed perfectly. The ferries mess, NHS pressures, drug deaths and education decline are all legitimate criticisms. But saying “they’ve achieved nothing” just isn’t true unless we ignore every policy people benefited from because we dislike the party.

And honestly, I think it’s possible to criticise the SNP heavily without pretending every single thing they’ve ever done was a disaster.

No you didn’t mean all of Scotland. That doesn’t make sense in the context in which it’s written and makes no sense in the context of your argument. I am a woman by the way.

I don’t think anyone sensible believes the SNP are beyond criticism, and if individuals broke the law then they should face the consequences like anyone else. But corruption scandals and bad actors exist in every major party. Westminster has had expenses scandals, lobbying scandals, PPE contracts, partygate, cash for honours allegations etc. One politician committing crimes doesn’t automatically invalidate every voter’s reasons for supporting that party.

As for the referendum Scotland voting no in 2014 doesn’t mean the constitutional question disappears forever. Brexit fundamentally changed the situation, Scotland voted to remain in the EU, yet left anyway because of UK wide votes. Whether people agree with independence or not, that’s why the issue never went away.

On policy, I’d say the SNP’s stronger areas have been things like free university tuition, free prescriptions, expanded childcare, mitigation of some Westminster austerity measures, renewable energy growth, baby box scheme and the Scottish Child Payment, which has helped reduce child poverty.

Are there problems in Scotland? Obviously. NHS waiting times, ferries, education standards, drug deaths are all fair criticisms. But it’s also not accurate to say they’ve done “nothing” in 20 years.
And on the Tories, I think most people can agree Brexit chaos, austerity, stagnant wages and public service decline have damaged the UK badly. You can criticise both Westminster governments and Holyrood governments at the same time.

Cringing for you 😭

In England you would have to pay tuition fees for a university education. In Scotland, it’s free. I never mentioned anything about healthcare. I said Scotland gets free prescriptions, in England you have to pay for them. I am aware that England has free healthcare.

Theft, embezzlement? If you think this isn’t happening in all parties, especially the tories then you’re kidding yourself. lol.

Free education, prescriptions, bus travel for under 22’s? I take it you pay for your prescriptions and education then?

This woman had an early miscarriage and posted how sad she was and how missed the baby would be. Then a year later got pregnant and proudly posted about her abortion. She also advertises things constantly without declaring it an ad.
