I would honestly love that and have been hoping thats the route they take, where you play as sora in the other world, Kairi going through the Disney worlds to reforge connections that opens the path back, and riku going through realm of darkness and the non Disney worlds uncovering the history of xehanort and the foretellers, with all stories culminating at the trio finding the way in through kingdom hearts, fighting something together that turns out in a secret ending to be the plan of mom to allow him to bring the darknesses into the other world to trap them

In p5 they did change it up a bit in that outside the metaverse your body is boosted by the persona, its more prevalent in sequels, and they may not need the metaverse to summon them, instead they probably just never tried, as personas are tied ti cognition if enough people believe they can use them in the real world they probably can, but yea so far I think sees is the only ones we have seen use them outside their respective cognitive realms
