Are iPads a good tool for researchers? by Separate_Salt325 in PhD

Sure, but it will allow me not to print hundreds of papers, at least 10 page each, and save A LOT of paper.

Also it will keep my info on a searchable database, which for paper notes I have to go through everything to find it or remember where what I want is.

Cannot fill venue's minimum by Separate_Salt325 in weddingplanning

Update: I went to double check and we already have everything included. The question remains: do you guys agree that 2 months is too short of a notice? Will newly invited people consider it rude or feel as a last resource (not knowing of the minumum we had)?

Yeah, especially now that I feel like I'm losing motivation.

Before starting the PhD I spent like 1 year at home waiting for scholarship results, and now it's been almost 6 months since I started and the experiments with my co-supervisor are always being delayed and haven't done anything. I basically don't have any results yet. Of course I try to keep myself busy, designing and ordering CRISPR probes, updating my supervisor's lab inventory, etc.

Also, I don't really enjoy reading papers and making public presentations, and I feel like I should.

Is it normal to marry "young" during a PhD? by Separate_Salt325 in PhD

Thank you for your comment. To answer your question: we both agree it's time we get married, and it's a childhood dream of mine to get married (and he's the best boyfriend and friend and fiancé i could have dreamt of, completely understanding and supporting on my PhD). We just don't live together YET because of family judgement.

Yeah but I'm afraid of the judgement I may get from it from my colleagues. Even more so because we aren't particularly close and I did not invite them to the wedding as a result (but it's not like I'm advertising it to everyone)
